Unusual Character meetings

We are in search of Max (Goofys son). We are going to Walt Disney World on the 6th of Feb and my son wants to see him. I have heard that he sometimes hangs out at Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe. Has anyone ever seen him there or anywhere for that matter? Also what other "unusual" characters have you seen and where did you see them at?

We saw Max on our last trip at DHS. He was with Goofy in the Art of Animation building.

We find a varied and unique selection at DHS animation building...everything from Malifacent to the Incredibles to Mulan and Mary Poppins with the penguins! There are several stations throughout the building with changing characters all day. At EPCOT we have great luck around all the countries: a very chatty Aladdin and Jasmine at Morocco and one of the Aristocats outside France to name a few. Also at DHS around the Sorcerer's Cap is a great variety. Again, changing all the time so it may be hit and miss. Another year after all the photo opps next to the Electric Umbrella were over we walked down the hall and were first in line with Snow White and DopeyIt's surprises like that we LOVE.

We did the impossible...gettting our photo with Mickey and Minnie together...2 trips in a row. In WDW we caught them in AK at Camp Mickey-Minnie. They were walking out of the staging area together. DH and I had our bride and groom ears on so they stopped and chatted with us. 5 months later we were in DL walking down Main Street when Mickey and Minnie popped out a side door together! It was the coolest!

I have "heard" Coda from Brother Bear is sometimes in Canada (We would LOVE to run into him) but have not seen him as of yet!!!

Mike & Sully from Monsters, Inc. are hard to catch but are sometimes at Disney Studios!

Koda no longer meets in Canada (he is no longer regularly out).

Mike and Sulley are out daily at DHS

We saw Max at Epcot with Bolt, Rikko (sp), Pinnochio and Gephetto and a few others. That was a great day Pinnochio took my DD by the hand and walked her out. It was at the far end near the stroller rental area.
I would love to see Malificent that would be great. My DD just wants to meet Tinkerbell (again) and Rapunzel that is all she talks about is seeing them.

We saw Launch Pad in Epcot around the countries. We were super surprised to see him! Being children of the 90s, we definitely took the photo op.

WOW thanks for all the great advice! I will definately be going to DHS, sounds like a lot of our favorites are there. We missed it last year because my son got sick on our DHS day ... Can not believe they had Launch Pad out! I wonder how many people actually knew who he was lol.

I've seen Max at the Character Spot in Epcot. You'll sometimes see 'different' characters near the exit (instead of turning right to go out the doors, they are on the left). Also, a few times I've seen a group of characters between Italy and the America Pavilion. If you're looking for someone specific, head to Guest Relations at whatever park you're at and ask them. They'll be able to point you in the right direction if they are out that day. Good luck! Happy Searching!!

Kate just made the same suggestion I was going to make - check with guest services... sometimes if the charachter is not on the schedule they will make an exception and have him/her come out....

If Kenai and Koda come out at all, it won't be in Canada (they no longer meet there).

We saw Max in what used to be the theatre for the Pocohontas show in AK in January of 2010. There were several characters in this area with no lines. I'm sorry that the current name of this spot escapes my memory right now, but I'm sure someone knows what I mean! Have a great trip!

We met Max in the boarding terminal for our Disney Cruise in 2007. Kenai and Koda we met in DCA next to Grizzy River Run a few years ago. Maleficent I've seen at the MNSSHP in the past.

Rafikis Planet Watch has Meeko, Pocahontas, and Jimminy Cricket in addition to Rafiki. We have also met other characters there, this is one of our favorite spots so we go there every trip.

I've seen Koda and Kenai every time I've gone to DCA. They're across from the Grizzly River Rapids entrance.

Max also appears regularly in Disneyland. He's usually in Town Square. I've seen him in the afternoons, but I'm deeper in the park most days I'm there, so I'm not sure if he's out all day or just in the afternoon.
