Hi...I have three tickets with an unused day on them They are the MYW tickets purchased a couple years ago with the no expiration option.

My question is can I apply the unused day towards a longer pass?

I am confused because Mousesavers says something about the 14 day upgrade, but has a sentence about ...or before the ticket admissions are used. Since the admissions aren't used, I am lost.

Is it even possible to upgrade it and if so, is it just better to use the day and purchase new tickets for the extra days?

I am thinking I just need to use the day and get new passes for the other days. But in case I am missing something, I figured I would ask.

Thanks!

You can't upgrade them if you have previously used them (more than 14 days from first use) even if you have the no expire option.

Depending upon how long you are going, it is most likely not cost effective to use the remaining day and buy new tickets for the rest. I think it is about $8 per day for extra days beyond 4 or so, so you would be using your 1 day never expire tickets to save $8 off buying a one day longer ticket.

I would save the one day tickets for a time when you are in the area for something else but want a little Disney to go with it. If you never plan to want to do just one day of Disney, you could also use it to visit a second park the same day if you REALLY wanted to hop one day and didn't have park hoppers (but I wouldn't really recommend it).

Thank you! That was what I kind of figured.

I tHink we will use the tickets for one day and then buy a two or three day pass for the remaining days.

A one day adult ticket is $85, a two day ticket is $168, a 3 day ticket is $232 and a 4 day ticket is $243 (adult gate prices without tax).

If you are going three days total, using up your one day no expire saves you $64 per ticket. If you go four days total, using the one day no expire ticket only saves $11 per ticket.

If you are only doing three days total, using the one day ticket makes sense, but if you are doing four days total, saving $11 probably isn't worth using up the no-expire day.

If you aren't sure when you make your plans how long you want to stay, it would be a safe bet to buy and use the 2 day tickets. At the end of day 2 (before you leave the park), you need to decide if you are doing 3 days or 4. If you are only doing 3 days total, use the non-expire for the last day. If you decide to do 4 days total, just upgrade the 2 day ticket to the four day ticket you need before you leave on day 2 and save the no-expire day for another time.

If you start with 2 day tickets you have to decide to upgrade befoer the end of day 2.

If you aren't sure when you make your plans how long you want to stay, it would be a safe bet to buy and use the 2 day tickets. Then on day 3, you need to decide if you are going to do a day 4 or not. If you are only doing 3 days total, use the non-expire for the last day. If you decide to do 4 days total, just upgrade the 2 day ticket to the four day ticket you need (since it is within 14 days of first use, it can be upgraded) and save the no-expire day for another time.

Tickets have to be upgraded within 14 days of first use, but they also have to upgraded by the end of the last day on the ticket. A two-day ticket has to be upgraded by the end of the second day of use - you can't upgrade it on day three if you used the last day the day before - even if it is within 14 days of first use.

If you start with 2 day tickets you have to decide to upgrade befoer the end of day 2.

:thumbsup2

No, you still have the 14 day window from first use. That is, unless a 2-day ticket has different rules.

Nope, Seashore is right. Disney changed the rules in August. Here it is from the ticket sticky:

In addition, effective August 1, 2011, if you have used all of your entitlements on a ticket the last day of use of entitlements is also the last day that you can do any sort of upgrade. So if you had a four day ticket and your fourth day of use was a Friday, from Saturday onward you cannot do any upgrade even though it is within the 14 day period. Note this does not apply to to tickets on the KTTW or to multi-day Florida Resident Tickets; in these cases the Guest name is preprinted on the ticket and they may add days after the last entitlement is used as long as they have a photo ID that matches the name preprinted on the ticket.

If the OP is staying onsite and buys tickets that are on the KTTW cards, she can upgrade after the second day of use. But for separate ticket media, upgrades have to be done by the last valid admission day.

Sorry to hijack but I was wondering. If you have a non expiring 10 day ticket and use two days, could you then add two more days to the ticket??

Nope. The max is 10 days, not 10 active days. Adding two more days would in effect make that a 12 day ticket, doesn't exist in the US market. Besides, an AP would most likely be cheaper if you upgraded within 14 days of first use or the last used entitlement day, whichever is earlier.
