Unusal trip ending...

We never go to the parks on our departure day, either. If you have a bit of down time on that day (and you probably won't have much, with the airport requirements to be there 90 min-2 hours before your flight), just do some swimming at your resort, or go to Disney Springs. Much better to spend a full day at the parks on the day after your arrival; that's what you paid for.

Lately I've been a passholder, and a couple of trips I went into the Magic Kingdom on departure day. Both times I found it sad as well as stressful. So as others have said, I'd rather that departure day is a more leisurely morning, followed by a meal at one of the resorts, maybe go for a walk, take it easy. Also the thought of going to the parks 14 consecutive days without a rest day in there somewhere seems overboard. I'd schedule at least one day off from the parks towards the middle of the trip.

Say good-bye to MK the day before and have a fun character breakfast on the day of departure.

Rather than go that last partial day, plan your last full day as a grand finale. Stay out late and close down MK. Then if it's an option, hop to the park with EMH and close that down. On your departure day you'll enjoy the time to sleep in and prepare for the long trip home.

Well we usually do not do a park on our departure day as my husband is a nervous nellie about flying. We usually just take our time packing and having breakfast and a last tour of the gift shop. However this time it will just be my son and I so we are planning on going to the parks this time. We are lucky enough to have APS and so we don't have to worry about a ticket this time but normally we would not be going to a park

Thanks for your replies, everyone! I think it's a good idea to plan to say goodbye the day before, and relax on the final morning. I'm intrigued by the 14 day passes allowing 15 days of access though - is there anywhere I can find out about this? Taking a rest day in order to 'save' a day of admission wasn't something I thought would work because the tickets expire after 14 days, as far as I know.

I'll have a think about a character meal to end our trip with, we're staying at Boardwalk for the second half of the trip so maybe the new Bon Voyage would be an apt ending!
Thanks again for your replies. :)
