I lived in southwest Balt! It was a place called Violetteville- ever heard of it?

Yep, my DD goes to daycare in the parking lot of St. Agnes hospital at LaPetite Academy and my DH works at the UPS on Joh Ave. I was raised in between Westside shopping center and Pigtown. Small world!!!:goodvibes

Too funny! It is a small world. I love Catonsville, by the way. It was a great place to grow up.

DH and I live in Columbia and own at SSR.

Next trip
Going on DCL end of April and trying out HI on the way back.

Love DVC as something to dream about while stuck in traffic.

I am very close but my father lives on that street smack right in the middle.
My stepmother likes to think she started the whole madness.

Great! Someone else from Cecil(tucky)! :rotfl2: Sometimes I just wish Delaware would annex us in, we are the red headed step child of Maryland. :upsidedow

Cecil County is up and coming. Growth coming west from Havre De Grace and East from Wilmington. The next 5-10 years are going to be good frowth years fot Cecil. I think Washington county is the step child.

I lived in Harford County (Joppa) for several years before moving to Cecil and was so surprised that pretty much all of our services (power, cable, etc) all come from Delaware! The only thing we get from Maryland (BGE) is gas. BGE Home won't even come into Cecil County to service anything, you have to use Delaware/Cecil service companies :confused3

But I am happy up here, less traffic (so far) and seems more like Harford was 8 years ago. We will see what kind of impact BRAC will have though, I think it is going to be very interesting!

Crofton, MD!!! I grew up in Crofton. My parents moved there in '73. They actually still live on Ormsby Pl. I always joke that I am going to have to dig a hole in the back yard and bury them there, because they will never leave.

I have basically been in the south since going to Clemson in 88. I have lived around Charlotte, NC now for 13 years. I still sorta consider MD my home even after so long. My yellow lab is named Ripken.

We just bought AKV in Jan. Our first DVC trip is in Sept.

Its all because of the river!

BRAC is really going to stress everything around here. In five years it might be time for us to head out of dodge!

And by the way, your not missing much by not having BGE!

I'm from Lexington Park and BRAC has been very kind to Patuxent River NAS. In the last round they had a net gain of 8. In the other years, they had significant gains. I haven't lived there for nearly 15 years, but still consider it home.

Yep, this place is going to be like Balto County quick, don't think Harford or Cecil are ready for it.

Don't worry, the Great State of O'Malley won't let us get away that easily, our electric is getting jacked up too! When they send out the bills, there is always a little blurb for their "Marylanders" about how PSC is increasing this or that, etc etc etc! But, we do get an offset with an easy drive across the state line for tax free shopping! (shhhh, don't tell O'Malley) :rotfl:

Actually, BRAC may not have the impact that was originally stated. Many military folks are opting for retirement before relocation to Maryland. Gov't is having a hard time convincing people to move here, one big reason is housing is too expensive. Most of the people that would come are not from big income military positions.

My dad is retired from the US Navy and he's considering moving out of MD. The state taxes his retirement pay and property taxes are out of control. He's thinking about moving to TN or NC where they are more friendly towards retirees.
