Hi all, first time to Disney. We will be staying at Coronado Springs from March, 23rd to 27th with DDP. Just made our reservations y'day. We are planning on celebrating our daughter's fifth b'day. It is on 24th, so I made appts for BBB for 8:45 am and CRT breakfast at 9:50 am.

23rd - flying in and will be at the resort by 10 am - so Epcot with EMH, depending on how the kids do.
Lunch - CS
ADR - Dinner - Biergarten Germany - 7:30 pm

24th - MK - B'day - BBB
ADR Breakfast - CRT - 9:50 am
Lunch - CS @ Cosmic Ray's
Dinner - maybe OOP someplace - Plaza Restaurant(?)

25th - AK -
ADR Breakfast - Tusker House - 8:20 am
Lunch - CS
Dinner - ??

26th - HS
Would like to do a dining package with Fantasmic, but not sure which restaurant would be a good pick

27th - DTD
Not sure how to plan this day. Return flight is at 8:00 pm.

Thats my tentative plan, folks. Want it to be a special trip for DD (and the grown-ups too). DS will be only 19 months, so I guess if he gets to run around as much as possible he will be happy :)

Any suggestions/advice are greatly appreciated. So excited!!

Lidian I am seeing on the "Official Fantasyland Expansion" thread that they updated about the reopening of Dumbo and it looks like we are going to miss it :sad2: Says March 11 so close yet so far away

Maybe we will get lucky and they will be doing test runs like they tend to do the days before a ride opens

Here's a link to the thread

Thanks for the link. Maybe we will end up missing it too. I know my kids would want to ride on Dumbo, especially my littlest. Here's hoping it will open a bit earlier for us all!

Ugh, I was afraid of that. I'd be okay with a soft opening while we're there. But it would have to start on the 6th ... since that's my official MK day. :lmao:

Wow, how cool is that for her to celebrate her birthday at WDW?! :woohoo: Did she pick Kouzzina for her dinner? (That is really awesome if she did!!!) She is going to have a great birthday! :cloud9:

She did! My daughter loves the cooking channel and she has seen Cat Cora on it. She chose Kouzzina for her birthday dinner. We are so excited! I just need to order her birthday cake through Disney.;)

How much would it cost me to add another park day? I was thinking of doing the wishes dessert party on the 9th at MK. I have the MYW 6 day tickets right now. Does anyone know when the dessert party opens up?

I think after like 4 or 5 days on a MYW ticket, it's like $5 or $6 per person, per day. I know when I upgraded our tickets last year, it was like $20 and some change for one day with four people. :confused3

I just priced it out on the WDW website, and it looks to be about $8ish per person, per day after 5 days. So there's an estimate. That may, or may not, include taxes and stuff. So you can probably plan for $10 per person, per day, if you want to be safe. :thumbsup2

Great!! Thank you so much...we are definitely adding another day!!

Well, I changed our flights and now we will arrive Friday afternoon. Mar 2nd
I was able to add another night to our stay at All Star Movies, but no extra meals to the free dining plan. :sad2:

My ADRs as of right this minute (could change any second, haha)
Chef Mickey's 7:25am - Sat Mar3
Mama Melrose FD 12:10 pm - Sat Mar3
Crystal Palace 1:30pm- Sun Mar 4
Akershus 12:30 - Mon Mar 5
Tusker House 12:05 - Tues Mar 6

I have so many questions because I have never planned a Disney trip staying on site with a dining plan. This is a first!

1. So our flight lands at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, what time do you think we should make it to our resort?

2. Is it worth it for us to get hopper passes on our tickets? I'm worried about HS and AK specifically because I know there isn't a lot of rides that my daughter will do, so I just don't want to waste a half a day.

3. When should I plan to go down to the bus area at the resort to go to Chef Mickey's or any of the parks? Do you know how much time I need to allow?

4. Is the Fantasmic Dining the way to go? I really don't want to eat at any of the restaurants involved with it, but I also don't want to have to wait an hour or more to see the show.:wizard:

5. My daughter wants character meals and I'm trying to maximize the free dining so would it be better to do lunch or dinner somewhere since we don't eat a huge breakfast? Have I picked good ones?:confused3

45 days to go!:woohoo:

If you're staying in a Pirate room, 100% of them are in Trinidad South. So you'll either need a standard room for a non-Pirate room, or a Preferred room for close access to OPR.

However, you do not have to walk to OPR from Trini-South if you have issues. There is an Internal Shuttle that makes rounds and will pick you up at the Trini-South bus stop and drop you off at OPR for dining and pool access. Or you could drive. :goodvibes There are price differences in the Pirate room (most expensive), Standard, and Preferred rooms. ;)

We booked a standard room, but will request to be on the first floor. We're not requesting a village. So we're anxious to see where we get placed!

It's possible that we may see each other at 1900 PF. I currently have an "off the books" ADR for 1900 PF at 6:55pm. I don't know if I will keep it or not. My original plan was to go to DHS that evening with DD, but since we haven't decided, I've not made anything official. :lmao:

And yes, if you want to take off PH and only visit one park per day, you can come and go as many times as you wish. You just couldn't go to MK in the morning, then to Poly for dinner, and Epcot for the evening. :thumbsup2

(grrrr - my response got "timed out" so here's my redo....)

Thanks Lidian! I'm calling today to make the final payment, so I'll ask again if they have any standard or preferred rooms open. When I booked I was told they only had Pirate rooms available. If we have to stay in one, I'm def keeping that curtain CLOSED so it doesn't scare DD!! :scared1: Some room for a "princess" trip! The bus is also fine. Sometimes they're accomodating too when you're standing there at check-in and work with you.

We asked for and got Jamaica 45 last time. The walk over the bridge was a nice start to the day, and my son thought that island was his private play place! Maybe you can get that. ;)

If you go to 1900 PF, we should be relatively easy to spot - 3 generations, no males. My daughter will most likely have a Tink or Cinderella dress on and her hair pulled up into a bun with lots of dangling pastel Mickey's around the bun (cute but hard to describe). Hope to cross paths!

1. So our flight lands at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, what time do you think we should make it to our resort?

I always allow 2 hours when taking ME

2. Is it worth it for us to get hopper passes on our tickets? I'm worried about HS and AK specifically because I know there isn't a lot of rides that my daughter will do, so I just don't want to waste a half a day.

Another option instead of doing a second park is to head to DTD on a day you will only be at a park for a partial day or plan resort time. The resorts all have movies in the evenings and various other planned activities (you will get a list when you check in) I do not consider it a waste of a half day at all, down time out of the parks makes for a more relaxing trip IMO

3. When should I plan to go down to the bus area at the resort to go to Chef Mickey's or any of the parks? Do you know how much time I need to allow?

For early morning reservations the buses start running at 6:30am I would try to be out there no later than 6:45 just to be on the safe side. You will need to take the MK bus and walk to CR or it has been reported if you mention to the driver you are headed to Chef Mickey's many times they will drive you to CR

4. Is the Fantasmic Dining the way to go? I really don't want to eat at any of the restaurants involved with it, but I also don't want to have to wait an hour or more to see the show.:wizard:

It is the better choice if you are going to a first show, if they add a second show of F!( may not be added until mid-February) the 2nd show is always less crowded no VIP seating.

5. My daughter wants character meals and I'm trying to maximize the free dining so would it be better to do lunch or dinner somewhere since we don't eat a huge breakfast? Have I picked good ones?:confused345 days to go!:woohoo:

I honestly do not know about the Character meals , I do have a couple planned (all breakfasts) Personally I think you will be fine with the ones you have planned although if it were me I would prefer the Breakfast menu at Akershus rather than lunch or dinner but that is just me.

1. So our flight lands at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, what time do you think we should make it to our resort?

I think they say allow for 2 hours to get from the airport to the resort. I wouldn't recommend trying to book a "CC guarantee" ADR that you might end up missing due to delays. ;)

2. Is it worth it for us to get hopper passes on our tickets? I'm worried about HS and AK specifically because I know there isn't a lot of rides that my daughter will do, so I just don't want to waste a half a day.

I've never used hoppers before. This will be my first year, and it's just DD and myself who will have hoppers. There's plenty of shows and other things to explore that easily makes DHS and AK full days for most people. You could also plan to go to the park in the AM, head back to unwind for a couple of hours (nap, swim, lounge), and then back to the resort. There's also DTD for lots of shopping. Mini Golf and DQ are also options to "use up" an evening. Plus there's activities around the hotels. You could just go exploring resorts!

You could also plan to look for characters in those parks over the rides, that will take a good chunk of time! :thumbsup2

3. When should I plan to go down to the bus area at the resort to go to Chef Mickey's or any of the parks? Do you know how much time I need to allow?

I would allow at least an hour, if not more for trying to get from a resort to another resort. Buses, on average, run about every 20 minutes. But if a bus runs and it's full, then you'll be waiting for the next one. Once you're on a bus, it takes just a couple of minutes to get to a park (I think about 15 minutes or less is average). If you're doing Rope Drop, I'd be at the bus stop at a minimum of thirty minutes before park open time. And that's the bare minimum that I recommend (in case you're waiting for a bus).

4. Is the Fantasmic Dining the way to go? I really don't want to eat at any of the restaurants involved with it, but I also don't want to have to wait an hour or more to see the show.:wizard:

Honestly, I've never done the F! Dining Package. If you aren't interested in the restaurants, then don't do it. :goodvibes I know back in May, where DHS was scheduled to be a 7, we showed up 30 minutes before showtime and scored seats. We were all the way on the far side, so if we had waited much longer, it would have been SRO or closed. I don't believe in waiting an hour to see a show (well, standing in line for an hour, anyway). You can always chance it. It's what I plan to do! If we get in, great; if not, oh well. I hate to give bad advice ... but I think you'd be okay getting in line 30-45 minutes prior to the show. But honestly, if you really want to see it, then keep an eye on the line and be prepared to arrive 60-90 minutes ahead of time. (Now that I suggest 30-45 minutes, Murphy's Law will kick in and it will fill up. :sad2:)

5. My daughter wants character meals and I'm trying to maximize the free dining so would it be better to do lunch or dinner somewhere since we don't eat a huge breakfast? Have I picked good ones?:confused3

I always book dinner when possible to make the most use of the DDP credits. However, some people really want or need breakfast to be the "big", focused meal of the day. (Or lunch, or snack, or whatever.) We snack during the day and eat big meals at dinner. If you're looking to get the most "bang for your buck" on the DDP, it will always be dinner. :thumbsup2 Your ADRs look great! We'll be enjoying Akershus and Tusker House this year as well. :goodvibes

45 days to go!:woohoo:

Huzzah for 45 days! :woohoo: Comments above in Indigo! :goodvibes

I'm not asking for any specific buildings. I want to be surprised at check-in!

G'luck in scoring a standard or preferred room! :goodvibes

We have decided to eat at Kouzzina's instead of 1900PF. So we won't be seeing you there, but there's still lots of room for bumping! :yay: I wanted more time with DD, so we'll eat at BW and hop a boat to DHS for a few hours. I'm sad I'll miss out on 1900PF, but spending mommy-daughter time will be worth it in the end. :lovestruc
