UnOfficial March 2012 Trip Planners Tread-DIS Meet 3/8 Info Pg 1

If we take the 4-Runner, I'll have plenty of space for your creamer and whatever else people need. :lmao:

But if we take my car, I'll struggle to get our luggage in the trunk, but if you make your care packages small, we can stuff them between the kids. :rotfl2:

Let me know if you take the 4runner... I'll send you my grocery list. :rotfl2:

D~

You two crack me up! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl: So Liddy, I would completley take you up on the offer to take our case of water down for us, but since it would be about a 2.5 hr drive to get the water to you, I guess we will just save that gas money and figure something else out! :thumbsup2 :lmao: Thanks for the offer, though...aren't Dis friends just the bestest??? :flower3:

D~- I will definitely check into the Brita filter bottles. DH and I were talking last night about doing something like that. We are staying at a Mod, so we will have a fridge in the room. Thanks for the suggestion!

On a different note, we are revamping our surprise reveal since we are going to be flying now instead of driving. Our original plan was to have the bags packed while they are at school (the day before check in) and having them open a box of Mickey balloons when they get home, then hitting the open road to drive all night. Well now, we don't fly out until our actual check-in day. Our kids are NOT morning people, so to try to do a fun "surprise, we are going to Disney" at 4 o'clock in the morning would NOT go over so well...not fun. DH and I came up with an alternative plan last night....

We will have the bags packed and put them in the shed next to the house. When they get home from school Wednesday we will tell them we won't be going to church that night because we are tired and just want to stay home and have a movie night. After dinner and everyone is bathed we will sit down with some popcorn and soda in our refillable resort mugs from this past March. I will pop the "movie" in the DVD player while DH sneakily get the video camera going....and the movie of the night???

Sounds like a fun way to tell your kids. I never did a surprise trip but I do not think I could keep going to Disney a secret. My only worry with telling them before bed is I would be afraid they would not get a wink of sleep that night being so excited and end up being totally exhausted our first day. I think mine would have been bounceing off the walls once they found out they were going to DW the next day.

Sounds like a great way to do it! We did the "4:30 AM at the airport surprise" our first trip and the kids were so tired, our oldest (8 then) was all "I don't get it"...it took most of the flight for them to clue in!

I am sure that will happen...DH and I won't be able to sleep either! :rotfl: Our "first day" plans are very scaled back. We actually won't land and get to our room until late afternoon and we have 7pm ADR's at our resort, so we probably won't make it to a park. If we do, it will only be for a couple hours. We plan to turn in around 10 or 10:30 (after an awesome Dismeet :thumbsup2). Hopefully we can all get rested up then before we hit the parks the next day.

This is our first time doing a surprise and believe me when I say it has been HARD!!! :sad2: I have a big mouth and it has almost slipped up more than once... :rolleyes1

Oh that is funny! I watched a video on here of another Diser who did the early morning surprise and the video is quite long since the actual happy and excited reaction was VERY delayed!

Well, I could have bought a case of water from a local store. I'm not that far off the beaten path where we don't have staples such as cases of bottled water. :p

Totally love the idea of the surprise! However, I insist on see the video!

I'm so horrible, we forced our kids into the car (and they didn't find out until we arrived on property). You could do the same ... but the flight to Orlando give it away. :rotfl2:

Oh I thought you had an early morning flight and would be arriving to Disney mid morning when you mentioned waking them at 4:30am, arriving later is a whole different story. In any case it is going to be fun surprising them for sure

We have an 8 am flight (central time). We live about 45 mins from the airport. Have to go to the park and fly lot first, then be at the airport 2 hrs early because that is what TSA wants... and what TSA wants, TSA gets. :lmao: We have one stop-over without a plane change and then we land at MCO at 12:45 (eastern time). Soooo that puts us getting to POR around 2-3pm going on ME...LONG morning!

 Neighbor. By March we should be more than ready for some Sunshine and warm weather if this winter is anything like last year. Keeping my fingers crossed no storms for when I have to fly. I never went this early in the spring before always late March -April. I went once last week in January, flying out was fine and was lucky coming back it had just started to snow when the plane landed coming home.

My best friend and I are driving down. It seems like we won't be getting much snow for a while. That storm in October really threw us for a loop, though!

Ohhh so sweet of you! Since we haven't officially met yet I won't take advantage of your kindness.....BUT after we meet will be another story! :lmao: I will video the reaction and get DH to help me figure out how to post it....maybe we will post it that night! I am so not a tech person...I haven't even taken the time yet to figure out how to post pictures on here. The difficult part is that most of my Dising is done on company time (:rolleyes1) and my pictures are on my computer at home. :sad2:

I upload my pictures to a website (photobucket) and then copy & paste the img code into the DIS. On photobucket, it actually has the full image code; I just click the code (it copies automatically) and then paste it into the DIS and VOILA! I know there are multiple other sites you can use, but I'm only familiar with photobucket. :thumbsup2 And when they're on photobucket, they're on the web, so you can access anywhere. :goodvibes

Awesome! I must play around with it this weekend....perhaps you and D~ would like to know what we look like. You might change your mind about meeting us when you see us! :scared1:

Good Morning

I opened up my email and cringed seeing an crowd level update from TP for my dates but for once I was pleasently surprised that my planned parks actually went down in crowd levels. :cool1: Hope they stay lower.

Still waiting for Disney to open up the bookings for the Wishes Dessert Party, I want to get my reservation made so I will be totally done with my plans.

As it is against policy to post actual cl from TP I can't do that but most of my days went down a point instead of going up , I think overall all the parks went down in cl predictions but I really only paid attention to the parks I plan on being in each day. MK on my arrival day went down 0.1 which isn't much but when your talking cl of 9.0+ every lil change is better.

I am really hopeing for a good trip this time since we will be there before the actual start of SB , our last trip during Spring Break(March 24-31) the crowds were insane

Unless you have a weird growth out your face, or somewhere else visible, I think we're good. And I'd still meet you with a weird growth ... just not in public. ;)
:lmao::rotfl2:

But knowing what you look like does make for easier recognitions! But no worries if you can't get it to work. And if you need any help, just ask! :goodvibes

I saw the email when I was at the hair salon. I didn't want to open it for fear of it being bad. I need to go check to see how it affected us. (I did see some parks being changed on the Avoid and Best list.)

I also got an email with a drop in cp and a park we were planning on attending changed from park to avoid to neutral park!!! I kept trying to talk my girls out of HS that day, but its there fav park and they want to visit it first...now I can stop trying to talk them out of it!

I didnt see my name on this list, so thought Ide get added. I booked this trip when we were still down there this summer and was lucky enough to catch the free DDP for our spring break when I did, cause it is one of the dates they took off shortly afterwards.

Anyways, it will be myself, DH, DS14, DD12, DD4. Also DHs parents, and sisters are comming, but we wont be with them everyday and have no ADRs booked with them. We are staying at POR (our favorite resort) March 10-17th.
Our ADRs

3/10 Planet Hollywood @ 6pm

3/11 Cinderellas Royal Table @ 10am

3/12 Mama Melrose @ 3:30pm

3/13 Raglan Road @ 5:45pm (may make this a CM dinner)

3/14 Chef Mickeys @ 9am (may change to Tusker House)

3/15 Blizzard Beach, then off to visit friends off-site

3/16 Chefs de France @ 5pm

I really wish the Dis meet was the next week, especially with it being at POR, maybe one of these days Ill be there on the right date!

Everyone enjoy your March trips, its our favorite time of the year there.

TGIF-

Good Morning -

Not sure if it is me or what but while on the Disney site yesterday I noticed two changes in the calendar for MK that I had not previously taken note of.

First - The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is scheduled to be closed for refurbishment from February 26 through March 10, 2012*

*(this has been added to page 1 of the thread)

Second - Sunday March 4th MK hours are now listed as 9am to 10pm and 10pm to 1am EMH

*(which is extended from the previous hours of 9am tp 12am)

I did not have time to go thru the entire month yesterday nor did I check the other parks for hours changes

I just glanced back at the Hours calendar for MK and noticed on March 6 & 7 the hours are now listed as 9am to 9pm ( instead of 9am to 8 pm )

There may be other changes, not sure.
Hope everyone has a good day.
