For those of you who got the free dining plan, yet didn't need your one day ticket, how did this end up playing out for you? Would they give you a single day hard ticket to use for a later trip? Was it automatically put on your room key? DId you then have to go to Guest Services to have it taken off your room key and would they then give you a single day ticket that was able to be used for a later trip?

Please let me know what to expect, as I have an AP and won't be using the single day ticket. I would like to give it to my friend so that she can use my one day ticket and her one day ticket toward an AP purchase. This seems reasonable to me, but those who have been there with this dilema, what do you think?

Thanks for your letting me know your experiences!

The one day ticket is on your room key. Plenty of people have used the one day tickets toward the purchase of other tickets. The only problem I could see happening is because your name is on the ticket but her name would be on the AP. It might not be a problem but I would call Disney directly and ask if you can transfer a one day ticket.

Min. WDT allows w/pkg is 1 day base tix (you don't have to add PH or WP).

Tix is put on your room key, w/your name on it.

Even though you don't pay for the non-expiration feature, it is as good as a non-expiring tix - as long as you DON'T use it @ the turnstiles.

We were able to "trade in" a few old partially used PH & DVC discount toward AP's last Dec. but, CM told me they were discontinuing that option this year...1 tix "upgrade" per person.

We have the one day tickets from last years free dining. They are on our room keys and we were told they are good until we decide to use or upgrade them. We are going to upgrade them this year for new APs.
One thing to know - you can only use one park ticket toward the purchase of an AP. It is an upgrade, not a credit. For us, we have 4 one day tickets and we will upgrade each one to an AP.
I asked about this earlier because I wanted to use this years one day tickets AND last years one day tickets toward our APs but we were told we could only use one and upgrade it.
I hope that makes sense?

I was told the same thing this past May. I had a ticket left over from the free dining period last Sept, then this past May I bought 8 day MYW ticket for me and my mom, because we wanted to buy the DDP. Guest services at the resort said they couldn't upgrade me, but I could get them upgraded at either a park guest services or DTD guest services. I went to guest services in DTD, where I was told I could use either my MYW ticket from last Sept or my 8 day ticket I had bought for the May trip to upgrade to an annual pass, but not both (only one ticket allowed per person/upgrade). I then asked if I could give my mom my ticket from last Sept to upgrade her ticket to an AP and was again told no, because both tickets were in my name. Anyway, long story short I used the 8 day ticket from my May trip to upgrade to an AP and still have my ticket from last Sept. Plus, I'm going to have another MYW ticket when I go back this Sept for the free dining.

Thanks for the tips. I was wondering what we'd do with the five 1-day MYW tix we'll have from this trip.

I have read about people who wanted to put their tickets on their room key. If that is true is it possible to have the ticket NOT put on the room key and if so, would it be like most one day tickets in that anyone could use it? :confused3

Slightly Goofy (who will soon have 4 one day tickets)

With the package the ticket has to be on the room key, from what I've been told. It then "belongs" to the person whose name is on the room key and as was mentioned above, never expires until first use. It is also true that you can only use one ticket per upgrade per person. The room key ticket is not transferrable for an upgrade but technically (not legally) it could be used by anyone if no one checks the signature if it were just going to be used as a one-day pass. I wouldn't recommend this though since who knows what might happen at the turnstiles. Another person whose name was not on the room key could not use another person's ticket for their upgrade.---Kathy

I would suggest bringing a Sharpie marker (or similar) and writing on the room key that it still contains a one-day ticket. If any of you are like us, you end up with all kinds of Disney room keys, ticket media, etc. and it's easy to lose track of what it is and why you saved it. This is especially true with the old PH's that had pluses that don't expire. For our upcoming trip, I'm going to bring everything in the house I can find that even looks like a WDW ticket and have GS check them for me to make sure we don't have unused days that we weren't even aware of. Just make sure you don't write over any bar codes, magnetic strips, etc.

I didn't know you couldn't use more than one for the upgrade. We were going to use both of our 1-day tix from two free dining trips to renew our AP next year. Since we can only use one, I wonder what we can do with the other? Does anyone know if it can it be used to buy a different kind of pass...like an AP to Disney Quest or AP for the water parks?

That's a great tip! Thanks Caypso-a-go-go!

And thanks to everyone who has written with their experiences, it is very helpful and I appreciate knowing what might be coming up on my trip. I'd rather know what I can do with that ticket than be surprised later.

DCLFun -

The room key ticket is not transferrable for an upgrade

Do you mean that I cannot use the ticket on my room key toward an AP next year or just that I cannot let someone else use it on another trip?

It would just ruin the fun if I was walking around with it costing me $60 plus a day for the parks. We are currently paying about $4 a day. It is so much more stressfree and funfilled.

NCardella, thank you for answering the many questions I had about the one day passes. Now if the computer does not mess up the info on my card. :thumbsup2

Glad I could help! I think that because of the free DDP so many of us annual passholders are buying those one day tickets just to take advantage of it, and we all have the same questions! I just wanted to make sure the $$ spent for the tix wasn't going to go to waste.

we did it last year, and are doing it again this year. That way you have a paper ticket, that you can use or transfer as you desire.

That is what I would like to do, as I have 4 one days from last year and will have 4 from this year. How did you do this, and whare? Thanks for the info!
