I have read that this ride lasts a total of 45 minutes. How do young children handle it? Would anyone suggest refraining from taking a 2 and 5 year old on it? Anyone think they would be fine?

Thanks! princess:

Wow.. I didnt realize the ride lasts that long, but I bet it does now that you've said it.. I would think that the first part might be hard for them.. The part where you watch Ellen on the screen but once you actually get on the ride I would think it will keep their attention.. Its one of my favorite rides and cant wait till we ride it again..

In May we went to Universe of Energy with our 5 year old son and 2.5 year old daughter. They certainly tolerated it well. My 5 year old loved it because a lot of the ride itself focuses on dinosaurs, which he loves.

Hi. This all depends on what your children enjoy and what they are frightened by. When we took my 5 year old son, he was very afraid of the dark and the very large dinosaurs. My husband and I love this attraction, but it was only last year that my children could enjoy it too. They were 7 & 9 years old. I love Ellen Degeneres and Bill Nye the Science guy. Its very entertaining and educational. At 2 years old, my son fell asleep anytime we entered an attraction that was in the dark.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Is it geared more towards adults? More educational than entertaining? I don't think we'll do it if the kids won't "get" it. princess:

I used to love this ride, now it makes me want to pull my hair out! :crazy2: The ride it self will probably hold your children's attention, it's the preshow, that is...well boring. There is a room you go in to and Bill Nye the science guy, talks to Ellen D. It seems to drag on forever! Then you enter in this room, into the seats, which move around to the different rooms. That in it's self takes almost 5 minutes, to get everyone sitting down.:rolleyes2 Now the part where the dinosaurs are, I used to love, when I was younger, but now it seems so outdated.
Although you can see I'm not thrilled with this anymore, I would say give it a try it's worth doing it once. Your 5 year old won't see it like me, where technology has grown so fast, that it seems so outdated.

I think this ride ideally captures the interest of the 7-11 year olds, but my husband and I still love it too. Lots of corny humor, big dinosaurs, stinky breath kind of stuff. If you are intrested in the various ways we can get our energy from now and in the future, you as an adult will find it interesting. Children may find that part boring, but my 10 year old seemed captivated by it. I should state that he is very interested in topics that serve to protect the earth and our resources.

This is the ONLY attraction I've ever really fallen asleep in.

I like the dinosaur part, but the movie just does me in. ;)

I really don't think it lasts 45 minutes...20 maybe but not 45. No one would go if it took that long. Of course, I have been known to be wrong so, if anyone knows different, speak up.

This ride is such a snoozer; I believe it does last about 45 minutes total. My kids wouldn't stand for it, dinosaurs or not. It is on my very short "never again" list for WDW.

We've done this every trip - not sure why. :confused3 I think we may skip it this year!
