Just listened to the segment of the email show about Universal's camera policy. Although they are strict about no cameras on the ride; unless they very recently changed things, you can definitely take bigger cameras (DSLR's) into the 2 parks. I attended both parks this past year with my dslr, and have never been turned back or questioned about it. Even back in mid-October, I very easily took pictures all over the Wizarding World with my big camera and my big tripod. One Team Member even walked me to a good picture taking spot. And to top it all off, I was able to go into the Hogwarts tour line and set my tripod up all throughout there. So sorry if that's not the case now; but i definitely had some freedom a couple of months ago.

I have never been challenged with my DSLR at Universal. I don't take pictures on the rides though.

I think the no DSLR conversation was about Halloween Horror Nights. I believe you can't take professional looking equipment in during that event.
