So after my last thread, my mom is asking about doing a full day at Uni/IoA. During our time at Disney I have midday breaks scheduled to go back to the hotel for an hour or two to rest. My mom has fibromyalgia and gets tired easily and changes in routine can cause her extra pain. She's wondering if she'll be alright doing a full day at Uni where going back to the room isn't an option. I've only been once myself and I'm not sure how many resting spots there are. I'm not sure if we should go, basically. My mom isn't in the best shape either, though I've been getting her to go walking in preparation for the trip. She isn't interested in a scooter or anything. She's not that out of shape. She just has this condition that I'm a little worried about. Has anyone been with this kind of issue? Were you okay? I'm considering bypassing Uni altogether.

No experience with fibromyalgia however, if using a scooter keeps her from being in pain then she should use one!

I have knee issues and they don't usually bother me enough in my normal day to day to require a scooter - although sometimes a cane if I am going to be walking a lot - I have used scooters at Disney before because that much walking, even without any pre-existing issues can be daunting!

You might try to convince her it will make the trip more enjoyable! Even if she only uses it to get between attractions!

Total random thought here. I have never been to Uni and I don't really have any experience with fibromyalgia, but just a thought ----

If you purchased your tickets using Amex, you and your mom could take advantage of their in park lounge area. It's open between 12 & 5 pm.

Not sure if that would help tie your mom over when she gets tired.
It may be something to consider.

Good luck!

maybe go to the first aid center and sit there where it is air conditioned and quiet.

i have seen guests sitting there when the heat has over come them.

First Aid

At Universal Studios Florida®, a First Aid Station is located at Family Services, located near the Studio Audience Center. The main Health Services station is located on Canal Street between the New York Street Set and the San Francisco Street Set, right across from Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue™.

At Universal's Islands of Adventure®, First Aid is located inside the Guest Services Lobby, just to the right of the main entrance turnstiles. The main Health Services station is in Sindbad's Village within The Lost Continent®. Look for the Red Cross across from Oasis Coolers.

We recently went to Uni in March with my husband who has cancer and a lot of trouble with neuropathy in his hands and feet. Because of the issues with his feet he can't walk very fast and because of the chemo treatments he gets worn out easily. All that being said, we found PLENTY of places to sit and rest and take in the sights people watching while our girls hit the rides - they are 27 and 21 so going off alone is not an issue.

At the studios there is a great place by the lagoon in the new Springfield area - kind of behind the donut truck thing and the whole open AstroTurf area by Rip Ride and the stage - although that is completely in the sun.

At IOA we sat at the outside tables at the bar before you go into the Suess area and in WWOHP if you take the walkway between the restrooms and Three Broomsticks you can get to the outdoor seating area of the restaurant. We sat there for an hour or more (obviously at a non-busy eating time) and it was lovely-the beer from the bar right there didn't hurt either!

Hope that helps!!

This is a nice place, A/C and comfy seats. :)

In IOA there is a resting place near the water in each "land" if I'm not mistaken.

In Universal Studios central park has some nice spots.
