We have only been to Universal twice in our lives and have only been for a day each time. We have never stayed onsite or did a vacation package for that matter. We will be heading to Orlando in January and would like to do a split stay between disney and universal. Everyone talks about how expensive disney is, but I think Universal is pricey. I can't justify staying at Universal for a couple of days onsite, with tickets and meal plan. It is a little pricey for us. Does anyone know if they ever run specials for January? Discounts on hotels or packages? We are open to anything, but would like to stay for a couple of nights. If not, I guess we can just go there for the day while we stay at disney.

Thanks!!!

There are great discounts on rooms during value season. With one AP ($229 with a $149 renewal rate) you will get the Royal Pacific hotel for $139/night. This will also give you discounts on multi day tickets as well as in park discounts for merchandise and dining.

Do they still have the 7 day 2 park tickets for $100? Is FOTL access needed the last week in January?

January is usually a nice time to visit the parks. Things will pick up again around President's Day. There haven't been the $100 tickets since January. Crowds have been massive and discounts just don't seem to be needed to entice the people to come.
