I went to Universal on Sunday September 20. We were very disappointed in some of the rides that are were no longer there. We did not do Islands of Adventure as we had a 1 day 1 park pass. Universal no longer has Earthquake and King Kong they also no longer do the boat show at night. I realize that as time goes by the rides will come and go but....they should replace it with rides that are equally comparable. The mummy replaced one of the rides and even though it is a good rollercoaster it only last what seemed like 30 seconds. The fishermans wharf was like a ghost town. Needless to say when we return to Disney we will not be going back to Universal. For those that have been curious of the tickets sold through ticketmaster...I bought mine through ticketmaster and printed them out at home and had no problem at all using them. Thank goodness I didn't pay full price for my tickets that would have even made me feel worse about going there.

Earthquake was replaced by Disaster and you can't get anything closer to comparable rides then those 2. Its the exact same ride with a better preshow.

Sorry you had a bad time. Universal is awesome and apparently not for everyone.

I guess we just went expecting something different than what we got. We have been there several times in the past and had always loved it that is why we returned.

Yea was kinda the same for me when I went to Disney. I was expecting something magical and it did not deliver. I had a good time and I love the atmosphere with Disney but there are only a few rides I find fun there.

Same for Universal though but I could spend all day on MIB and the Mummy is also great. It gets better every ride imo.

I miss the old rides Uni had when I was younger but then again if I rode them now I may be disappointed...Guess its better I remember them GREAT.

If you had never visited Disney and only visited HS, with the crowds, limited number of rides, and ridiculous waits, it might jade you against Disney. By not visiting both Universal parks you are not making a fair comparison between Disney and Universal.

I suggest you be fair and try both Universal parks next time. Islands of Adventure is nothing like US - it is unique in its own way. You might have really enjoyed it, rather than comparing US to a previous visit.

Years ago we started out as Disneyholics but our next vacation this December is almost all Universal. We got tired of the hassle of trying to have a good time at Disney, especially since they do not have anything like the FOTL benefit Universal offers its hotel guests.

i do miss some of the old rides but have thoroughly enjoyed what the replacements have been. Kong bit the dust some years back for mummy.
Disaster came early last year to replace earthquake.
i do like show/ride better now.

i always look at the orlando universal website to prepare myself for changes to the parks.

i usually suggest newbies or those that have not been to the parks in years to do the same.
that way, there are no surprises for them when they go.

sorry your day in the park wasn't as what you had planned.
hope you did enjoy yourselves.

To me, Disney isn't what it used to be..b/c I've grown up.. I visited Magic Kingdom for the first time in 10 years recently and was bored...most of the rides were slow and didn't interest me that much. I remember loving big thunder mountain and when I went on..I was like thats it? I do think that Magic Kingdom itself seemed to have a lot more to do than Universal Studios. Lots of rides and shows..but I wasn't about to wait 45min to go on a winnie the pooh ride.. I did wait around 20 min to go on a go-cart that goes like 5mph..snore..Universal Studios has more things that a kid wouldnt be able to do or might be frightened of..and appeals to a little older crowd..I went on that buzz lightyear ride and it sucked compared to mib.. the only attractions I liked there were splash mountain and monsters inc laugh show..to each their own..

It sounds like you didn't even go on Disaster as you would have seen that it is actually the same ride. It wasn't even replaced. So to say it should have been replaced with something comparable is pretty funny. The rest of your comments actually lose credibility after that statement.

I do understand what you mean about a ghost town though. September is a really quiet month and I'm sure most people were waiting to ride Rockit.

I know how you feel. When we went to MK 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea was gone, they took out Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and they replaced the Tiki birds with that annoying parrot from Aladdin. MK really sucks now, we'll be staying at Universal from now on.

Um yeah actually I feel as though I am making a fair comparison. I have been to Disney just as much as Universal and in my opinion I didn't enjoy it as much as I have in the past. There's no reason to get all tore up about it-that was just my opinion.

You are right about me not going on Disaster I didn't ride that and that was due to it being closed. The other comments made after that was about Fishermans Wharf being a ghost town and you seem to agree with that so maybe I didn't lose all my credibility afterall. Why would you make a statement about Disaster if you didn't even ride it? This is what annoys people over here. Posters come on and complain about stuff they don't even ride.

We really don't expect everyone to like Universal. That would just be ridiculous. But we do expect people who pop over here to make judgement calls on the park to actually have experienced what they are judging.

You saying that the place was empty is not a judgement call. It is a fact. I am not going to argue facts with you, only call you on statements with no basis in fact.

So many people come to this board to get information about Universal to help them plan their trips. When you post stuff like that it certainly is not helpful in the least.

I do agree though its not good to judge a park by a single trip. Before you enjoyed it enough to go back. Tbh the parks have not changed too much in a while so clearly you liked it enough before to warrant a return trip.

I had a terrible time at Disney last time I went with Disney and the only savior of our vacation for me was the little time I was able to spend in Universal.

But I don't hold it against Disney it was just the pieces that fell together with family, crowds, time we had there and other factors that made me not enjoy myself there. I still will plan another trip there sometime in the future but next time may add some more time with Universal.

Everyone is different and if you didn't have a good time you have every right to come here w/o ppl jumping down your throat. Hope you change your mind though in the future and attempt to give it another go. Should add on second park also, the theme is great and when hp opens it will be even more impressive.

I will say if they ever change T2 to "newer" Terminators I will probably come back here in tears complaining to anyone that will listen.

The OP does not sound as if they were all gaga for how Universal used to be from the original post but I could be wrong in that. But then again just reading it you can't rly read too much emotion in words so ya never know maybe they loved Universal and just don't like the newer rides.

Also while Simpsons is great and the building looks completely awesome theme'ing... Still wish BTTF was there!

Universal is like any park; there are things we like and things we don't. I don't like most of the rides at IOA, but that is because I am not a thrill rider. I LOVED US, and it was our first time there. Some of the rides were not for me (Like Terminator 3-D, which I hated), but I just figure it was for others who like that kind of thing. Like someone said, I could stay on MIB all day(and we almost did for a whole evening, LOL) We are def. going back again next summer.

Nothing stays the same forever, so just enjoy what you enjoy, you know?

Answer to both those questions would be No.

Little more in context question though...
If they changed T2 name and Pre show...I had forgotten where it was located and it was closed the day I went. I would probably come on and ask what happened to T2:3D.

So I would handle it differently then the OP and I don't think they are asking for everyone to agree with them but came on to share their experience and provide a little info about the ticketmaster tickets.

I don't agree nor disagree with either you or the OP...just trying to create some peace.
