please can you tell me if Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure can be done in a day if i was to do it all by myself

it could be possible to do all the rides in both parks but if you throw in the water rides, shows, outdoor entertainment, I don't think so

if your goal is just to do the rides, go when it is a low attendance period

If you stay at one of the deluxe hotels onsite and used early entry, you could get more done in the one day

One day is not the way I could enjoy the parks
There is a lot more to universal then to rush from one ride to another

IMO, you can do 'em in one day but you can't really do 'em right in one day. But if that was all the time I had, I'd go and have a blast.

Everything (rides and shows) in both parks? No. I would browse the Universal site and decide what is most important to you (the correct answer is Mummy, Hulk, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Escape from Gringotts, Spider-Man, Men in Black, Jurassic Park River Adventure, and the Horror Makeup Show :) ). Regardless of what you want to prioritize, you'll need a plan. Do I recommend a single day for both parks? No. If one day is all I had would I go? Definitely.

When would you be going?

That can certainly affect how much you can do. If not staying onsite for EP then utilising single rider where available can help.......

You would have to pick your highlights and work around that..........you certainly won't achieve everything, but if you only have one day........go as early as you can and stay as late as you can.........

Decent for attendance as long as you miss Labor Day holiday

Park hours are shorter

i know that the king kong ride is new please can you tell what other things that are new at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure

Monday Sept. 5th is Labor Day. US closes at 8:30pm and IOA at 7pm that first week. I'm arriving on the 4th.

Hulk will have new track completed.

New things have been added to the park every few years.

When was the last time you were at the UO parks?
That would help in giving you answers if we knew what date we need to go back to.

If you look at the park maps in the UO website, and the write ups for everything in them, that should be a way you can find what are the new rides/shows for you.

I actually was going to ask this same question. But let me rephrase. I have a family that doesn't like roller coasters (and I'm pretty motion sensitive so nothing that spins - I can't do teacups!) and we're primarily interested in Harry Potter stuff. Can we do all the HP stuff and maybe a couple other things in a day?

Yes you can

Also consider the street entertainment and scheduled shows in the parks

Can you do literally everything in one day? I don't know, honestly think you can do anything you desire to do if you're all by yourself in one day, especially if you arrive before opening (even if you do not get early park admission at Universal, from my experience they'll let you in 15-10 minutes early).

During the time you're going it shouldn't be too crowded, so if you go early you should be able to cover a lot of ground. From experience, I recently decided to go for a "half day" (I'm about to do it again tomorrow, woo!) which ended up being 4 hours. I rode Transformers twice, the Mummy once, Men in Black twice, Hogwarts express twice, Forbidden Journey, The Simpsons, and watched Horror Make Up Show and Terminator 2, which those two are about a half hour each. Oh, and I also managed to sit down and have a meal. That was between 9-1pm, which technically is less time than that cause by the time I got to my car it was exactly 1 and it takes time to walk back to the car.

So, can you literally do everything? Don't know. But I'm sure if you put your mind to it, plan on knowing what you want, and come early, you can ride just about anything you desire. Also, an extra bonus for going alone is single riders, which are shorter lines. For IoA singer rider attractions are Forbidden Journey, Spiderman and the Hulk (which will be open by the time you go). For Universal, it is Men in Black, The Mummy, Transformers, Rip It Rocket, and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.
