Universal Studios Harry Potter London Diagon Alley Expansion Pictures

I'm a voracious follower of this project and plan to return 1,800 miles to Florida specifically to see this expansion in November.

However, something just dawned on me. These buildings in the photos, they look like they're about four stories high, at least some of them.

Will there be anything actually *in* some of the buildings, or are these simply walls, in a way ... meant to look nice to not be accessible to the public?

Part of that is the Leaky Caldron. Part is the entrance/exit to the Hogwart's Express. The part on the far right is just facade.

Can someone explain to me where the Hogwarts Express will travel? Will it go in backstage areas or through the parks somehow? I'm having trouble visualizing this...

It goes backstage.

We bought Universal Season Passes for the first time last fall, has there been any word if there will be AP previews for the new Diagon Alley/Harry Potter expansion? Or any word on when they will actually open? I know they have said summer of 2014, but anyone have a more educated guess than that?

Thanks!

No word yet. As soon as some rumblings start, I'm sure you'll see it posted here soon.

Luckily, I'll be there in January... can't wait for more pictures! :)

Loving seeing the photos but previous poster is correct the Kings Cross letters are wrong. But, I can live without the correct letters if the ride is great!:lmao:

Actually, the lettering is authentically correct. I showed my sister, who lived within walking distance for 20 years and she said "yep- it's right"

The lettering is not on the brickwork here.

When I said it looked kinda wrong I maintain the white lettering on brick doesn't look right. Therefore in my opinion it looks wrong because I don't like the white letters on the bricks.

Just my opinion.

oh, okay, i see what you're saying now. I just meant that that's what the lettering was like before the recent King's Cross renovation. When you look at the photos that track the renovation, you can see the difference in the parts of the brickwork where the letters were. No matter - the Brits have different aesthetic sensibilities than we do, which probably account for folks not liking their font choices.:goodvibes:hippie:
I shall now return to our regularly scheduled waiting with bated breath for the DA expansion opening announcement...popcorn:::rolleyes1:banana:

These pictures are incredible. I am litterally counting the days....until we find out when we open, and then I will be counting down the days until the actual oppening.

We are going to Orlando June 21 - June 28. I planned Universal for the last couple of days the 26th and 27th hoping that it will be open at least one of those days. FINGERS AND TOES ARE CROSSED!!!!!!

Rumblings of June 1 soft openings right now. I'll update if I hear more.

Will be there 27-28 of May if June 1st is soft opening I will use my 2nd day of pass and got the 27 and June 1st and do Disney 28-31.

We are at universal June 11-15 and WDW 15-19. Really hopeful for a soft opening. We will return to Universal for 1 more day on 20-21 if we have any luck at seeing the new stuff. Crossing my fingers.

It appears the final touch work on Diagon is really accelerated lately, so the June 1st (or maybe even a week before) for soft openings may happen. The small IOA side of the expansion seems the most behind at the moment.

It appears there some sort of internal mini rush (aka soft bet) to get Gringott's soft opened before the seven dwarves mine train's official grand opening. Competition is pretty good, either way it very well may happen.

I took several pics of the expansion! It looks amazing! We want to go back next year and see it all! I kept hoping we might catch a soft opening but they weren't there yet, but you could really get the feel of how awesome it will be when it's done!
