how do you get to universal studios without a car from i-drive, can you use the i-ride, then walk, or is it better using the hotel shuttle.

We always I-ride and walk it.

We take the I-Ride to the Wet'n'Wild stop, then it's just a case of crossing the road, going over the bridge and into the park! It's one straight road from the crossroads at W'nW to the park, you can't really go wrong. You can get a Lynx bus, but when you could be waiting up to 30mins for a bus to take you on a 15mins (max) walk, is it really worth it?

It's actually a nice little walk. We never bothered with a taxi/shuttle there or back, just walked it. One night we even walked right from US back to our hotel (Quality Inn Int.) Actually, I half-walked, half-ran cos I needed the loo and we just missed an I-Ride! :rotfl:

The advantage of walking is you can leave the park at any time you want. The disadvantage comes when you're hotel isn't in the centre of I-Drive and you have to wait for an I-Ride. However, most of the shops are open, so you can always amuse yourself in one of them!

Nice one thanks for the information, I had looked at maps but they way out of scale. We are staying at Quality Inn International, the directions are straight forward, I dont mind the walk, 15mins isnt long, I suppose its less if you walk faster

The thought of walking to I-Drive after a long hot day in the park, isn't my idea of a relaxing holiday.....

Get yourself a big air-conditioned car.

If you have never done Universal/Islands before I advise getting as close as poss by transport, either car /taxi or bus The walk from Idrive is a long one, The parks are big and very tiring, especially if its hot. If you are super fit you will probably be ok but it would take some enjoyment from your day walking each way. I complain about the walk from carpark to entrances its that far.
I might even do preffered parking this year. :thumbsup2

Yeah. You might wanna do I-Ride there/back. But other than that, it's a very pleasant walk. We don't drive, so are used to walking. I'm guessing from the comments above that those posting drive in the UK ;)

I dont know when you are going, but the last two times we've been it's been in July and August, so we've been on the very hot months. The walk there can be a bit taxing, especially if you leave later in the day when the temperature is getting hot, but then again, if you can't handle that short walk, how are you going to handle a whole day in a park! :rotfl: Stop in at Walgreens (at the crossroads, opposite Wet'n'Wild) before you start out for a bottle of cold water! Oh yeah, and be careful of the millions of tiny reptiles that run across the pavement all the time.

The best bit though is staying in the parks till closing and then walking back. The temperature has gone down to a nice level and there is just such nightlife everywhere. You can also stroll home at your own pace and unwind before going back to the hotel. The walk to/from US is one of my fav bits! But then I'm used to having to walk everywhere! ;)

You are probably best never visiting L.A. then.....

An American told me that they can always spot Brits because we all wear football shirts, walk everywhere and always have a plastic carrier bag !! I must admit it made me laugh....Look at any bus stop in Orlando now you've heard that..

Yes your right, furthest I walk at home is to the car. My business is about 800 yards from home but I take my BMW:lmao: .
But get into a theme park and I can walk from 9am until midnight, Come out of the park can't walk beyond my car again.

Kevin, we were told the same by Americans, we always laugh our way up International Drive.

We go on tuesday, so not too hot, I have been at theme parks in this country from 8am til 8pm, when its been hot with coaster clubs so I am used to walking miles all day, as for the reptiles, do what Bear Grylls does and eat them, lol
