Universal settles lawsuit, acquires additional land and lifts deed restriction for new theme park.

Any ideas on what kind of park Universal may create next? Would it be similar to Island or US, just with different movies being featured for the attractions? Any rumors of a theme park that may be more specific, such as one focused only on Superheros? I would love for them to have done Harry Potter in its own park but maybe they have some amazing ideas for this.

The rumors abound. But I highly doubt we'll see anymore superheroes since the other guys down I4 have the monopoly on that. I've heard rumors of Nintendo, more Harry Potter (including hotels), Lord of the Rings, additional Jurassic Park land/rides and possibly Illumination Animation. Universal has a lot of good intellectual property. For me, I would love to see them do a really good Nintendo park. Zelda, Mario Brothers, Metroid, Mario Kart. The possibilities are limitless. I think key for them is going to be streamlining transportation and connection to the other hotels and parks. I know they can do buses and shuttles, but would love for something cooler.

Hi I started a thread the other day about this. I was noticing the last few days a lot of articles about Universal and a new park and renovations on the existing ones. I am not surprised by this article and I agree I think by the year end we will hear something. I just read today that Pokemon will be going in the studios in 2020. In the same article it mentions the new park is looking at maybe 2023. I think this will be a very extensive new park with all the ideas that were mentioned by Slytherinwasmybackuphouse. It will probably take some time to build. I think in the mean time we will see updates in the existing parks. Plenty of reputable articles out there supporting this.

I can't wait :thumbsup2

I hope the Potter areas stay in the existing parks. The Hogwarts Express brings a cohesiveness that really enhances each of them. There are so many opportunities and I am sure there are "back burner" plans just ready to dust off as well as new IPs with ideas swirling around the offices of Universal Creative.

"The new acreage sets Universal up to become a more of a destination property, similar to Disney, where people come to stay for period of days or even a week."

Welcome to the year 2000, Orlando Sentinel.

We’re going for a week, but I’m sure in general the average length of stay at UO is way shorter than the average at WDW.

So on the plus side it seems they'll be able to make a much bigger Nintendo Land if they're going to put it in a 3rd (4th if you count Volcano Bay) park. On the minus side is that we likely won't see it for at least 5 years :(
