Universal/sea world hotels

After 3 trips promising our son we would take him to Seaworld this year we are going to spend 4nights between there and Universal and IOA. I am looking for a nice inexpensive place to stay. We are not interested in staying at any of the Universal hotels as we are staying at Wilderness lodge for the WDW part of our vacation and one splurge per vacation is all we can afford. Besides I really want a hotel with a breakfast and fridge in the room. I do know about the front of the line pass the kids (3&5) &I aren't into the big rides and when we go in the middle of November I assume things won't be that busy.

Has anyone stayed at the comfort suites at the gate at Universal they had an amazing rate on Hotel Kingdom and the hotel was only a year old and said you could walk to Universal. Would love to hear about this or other good deals out there.

Hi, I would look into Vistana VILLAGE though hotel kingdom, very close to sea world, very beautiful grounds and accomadations! happy hunting! goof

Country Inn & Suites International Drive located 1 mile from Universal and 3 miles from Seaworld on Universal Blvd in the I-drive area. Suites have microwave and refrigerator. Also includes a continental breakfast in the rate.

Suites have 1 king bed in bedroom and sleeper sofa in the living room. Privacy door in between living room and bedroom. New hotel will be 2 years on in November.

WE are staying right now at the new Residence Inn across the street from Seaworld and it is wonderful! Full hot breakfast is included in your room price. Rooms are new, spacious and full kitchens. the pool is lovely and a nice kids playground too.

I have reservations at the Amerisuites for next March. The rate was around $80 with breakfast. Suites have fridge & micro. Haven't been able to find anyone here that has stayed there yet but they are one of the closest hotels to the entrance of Universal

Don't know that we can help you much but we will be staying in the Holiday Inn on International Drive. It's about 5 mins from Universal, next to Wet & Wild and about 10-15 mins from Seaworld.

All rooms seem to have a fridge, microwave, hair-dryer, iron and ironing board - all the essentials.

Have no idea what their rates are as we have booked a package from the uk. Reports we have read though seem to be v. good.

Thank you all for the great suggestions, still haven't decided but it is good to get some other opinions. The residence Inn sounds like something the kids would really like.

I know this was someone elses's thread, but thanks for the advice, everyone! Although Marriott's Residence Inn is kind of pricy it is close to Sea World, and we have decided to stay there the first two days of our trip. I think I'll be booking the last two days which we plan to spend at US/IOA at the Country Inn. Best rates for rooms in Oct: Marriott -- $85/night AAA (hot breakfast), Country Inn -- $54/night (cold breakfast & cookies).

I know I could get better prices with Priceline bids but then it is up in the air where we'd be staying, and esp. around the Universal area I want a safe place since I almost booked us into a place with a great rate but then later found a message here about how that motel had lots of break-ins.

You might try Priceline.com in the Universal/Sea World area. I had initially made reservations at the Amerisuites Universal for $69/night. Then I thought I woudl give Priceline a try. I ended up getting a room at the Wyndham on I-Drive for $35/night! Now I'm not a professional Priceline user so I probably could have gone lower but that seemed like a great price to me considering the lowest online price was $89. Maybe you could give Priceline a try.

We stayed there last Nov (after Sept 11). The rates were $29/nite and I was terrified it would be a roach motel for that price. We were pleasantly surprised! Clean and quiet, with a nice retaurant where we ate breakfast. I believe they have another low rate special going on in Sept/Oct. We didn't pay attention to the pool... we just needed a quiet place to sleep.
