I saw this on the Universal website. Do any of you have one? Would you recommend? Are the rewards actually useful? Do you accumulate just by the money you charge or is it qualifying purchases only?

I was debating signing up for a Disney VISA, but then I noticed it's 1% of what you spend in rewards.. well as a single 22 year old, I really don't have that many expenses to throw on my credit card a month (even if I charge everything and pay at the end of the month, it's max $250-$300, and that includes gas). It is probably nice for the families that spend that much a week in groceries, but that's just not me.. so I'm looking at the Universal one.

We had the Universal MasterCard but they no longer have that. It was a good card. You will have to read the fine print on the new Universal Amex.

No rewards card is going to be much better than any other, bottom line is you either have to spend a lot or catch a promotion. Right now, for instance, Disney Visa is giving out 5x rewards if you buy certain items like groceries and gasoline with their card. Even at that pace you would need to make $1500 worth of purchases to get a 1-day 1-park ticket with your reward dollars. Over the course of a year or 2 the points add up but if you plan on getting some big perk with your reward dollars it may not be for you.

The x5 only starts after you spend xx amount of money in that category in one month, usually $250, sometimes $750. There is no way on earth I'll spend $250 on groceries in a month.

The reason I'm looking for a rewards card is that I carry a $0 balance from one month to the next, so my current low APR card isn't doing anything for me.. at least a rewards would do something, ya know? I'm not looking for a week at HRH by only spending $20, just something that can eventually be useful. :)

I remember Uni's old Chase card, but wasn't sure how people felt about this new one.
