We will be visiting Universal for 1 day with a park to park ticket. We would like go get as much done as possible so we will rent a scooter for grandmom to keep up. She can walk, just not for long distances.

Can someone tell me how long the walk is from resort bus drop off to where ever we would rent a scooter from the park.

I can order from 3rd party but there is a 2 day minimum. Also thinking taking it in and off the bus might be cumbersome since she is fully capable of getting on and off the transportation without one.

Is its a far distance though, or if scooter rental on site wastes time during the early admit hour we will just pay the extra for 2 day rental.

Any experience? Thank you!

Hi!

Honestly, we have never been to Universal, so I have no info regarding the length of that walk.

But, have you considered renting a Rollator for your Grandmom to use? Looks like a walker, but with the added bonus of a seat for those times when she needs to sit. Some models even have the ability to work as a travel chair in addition to walker and seat. Best part is that you can typically fold them easily for transport in cars.

I don't have a personal experience but since we need to rent an ECV for our upcoming trip to Universal and couldn't find all the answers I needed, I called Universal.

First off, like at Disney, you cannot rent a Scooter at Universal and take it with you to Island of Adventure. You can rent a wheelchair right where the buses drop off but you can only rent ECVs at the stroller rentral inside the parks (no early rental before park opening outside the parks). You also have to return the ECV at the park where you get it and get a new one at the other. A WC you are allowed to keep for park hopping. So plan ahead that you have to walk between parks. They will also not guarantee that there will be any availability at the parks if you come later in the day, so if you park hop, they may run out in the other park and you will be ECV-less. The only transportation between parks is the Harry Potter train between the two HP sections. I was told though that it can only take one ECV per ride and only if it's not a rental from the parks (since ECVs are not supposed to "park hop").

Now the walk from the resort buses can be long. You have to go up to the pedestrian bridge from the dropoff (escalator or elevator), go through security, walk down another long pedestrian bridge (with moving walkways), go down stairs (or elevator) and then cross all the way through City Walk and then around the lake some further to the park entrance. I would say that's about a little less than a mile? It's most definitely quite a walk that can and will take some time.

For peace of mind, I'd rent off-site, even it's an additional day. But that way she'll have it outside the parks as well.

Thank you very very much for this information, it is exactly what I was looking for. I will rent from an outside company or give her the choice of using a wheelchair.

Also thank you to the first poster for the rollator suggestion. It won't be enough for her, she can't walk all day even with breaks. Repetitive stress issues with her foot due to an illness as a child (polio). Too much walking is painful and if her foot gets tired she will fall.
