You can get Child or Adult 2 Park Unlimited access pass (allowing you access to both Universal parks, multiple times in a 7 day period) for 570 airmiles each - they are normally 690 airmiles.

Hope someone can take advantage of this deal - I will be ordering 3 passes today, and hoping my airmiles from my credit card statement get deposited before the deal expires.

Enjoy everyone.

Yes, I see that Air Miles says...... "deal of the week." Are there any posts that record the history of what the previous deals of the weeks were and how long it takes for them to start repeating them if they do?

I don't want to waste my points on a particular deal if I know they might be putting up the 7 day loaded tickets for wdw and then not have enough points.

I don't know of anywhere that lists past deals of the week, that would be handy though.

I know last year they had WDW tickets as a deal of the week in April. AT that time it was get 7 day tickets for the cost/airmiles of a 5 day ticket. I can't remember if it was on the basic tickets or the full one's.

I missed that WDW one last year, and haven't seen it since, but I easily could have missed it. I have been looking at the deal of the week for about the past 5 weeks and the WDW tickets haven't come up in that time frame.

Good luck

Thank You!! I just got the Universal tickets 5 minutes ago. I never would have thought of checking there. I have been humming and hawing for two months. I have been worried that the 79.99 dollar deal would be over before I got my act together. Our trip to Disney/Universal in August just got cheaper thanks to you! I am very happy. This will be our last trip for a while because we have really been going a lot lately and it is USUALLY so expensive.

We bought into the Vacation Club August 2007. The best part about our upcoming trip is: We still have annual passes for Disney (exp Aug30)
We are staying on vacation points
Our airline tickets were free
Our Universal tickets are with airmiles so FREE
Aug 18-27
Vacation Costs

Tickets FREE

Accomodations:
Animal Kingdom Lodge Concierage paid with points FREE
Fort Wilderness Cabin paid with points FREE
Portafino Bay 244.00 (one night)

Park and Fly 68.00

The only money that needs to come out of our bank account is $314.00 plus food money. A family of 5 to disney and universal for 9 days..AMAZING
:cheer2: :cool1:

OK I am new to the Airmile thing, but 590 points for a $79 ticket does not seem like a good deal, or am I missing something?

I guess everybody has a different interpretation of what is a good deal or not, but for me it is.

My MIL has the credit card that lets her book flights for only 900 airmiles, but those flights to Orlando are still subject to taxes which when I looked in to it were $217 per person, this seemed crazy when I could get the flight elsewhere for $360 per person, inc taxes.

For me this deal means I don't have to pay for entry to US since I can use my airmiles. Less $$$ out of my pocket and I have the airmiles anyway and have nothing else I need to use them for. We are using my MIL's airmiles for all of our WDW passes and Sea World passes. :cool1: We will probably have some extras to use for $$ of car rental too - depending on the company you go with.

Value is all relative. If it means more cash stays in my bank account then great!

I just ordered my passes.

I don't know if 570 airmiles is a good deal but it saves us having to put out about $270 out of our own pocket for three of us.
So to us it is a savings.

I got the same deal last winter for 475 miles each.

If I had a trip this summer; I would pay the full 680 miles to get them. So 570 miles is still good.

Also keep in mind, once Harry Potter starts rolling around $79 price will definitely go up.

I agree everyone has a different idea of what value is. I am just looking into what credit card would be the best for me.

With a no fee PC Mastercard you get 1% back on what you spend on your credit card to use for groceries at Loblaws.

With a basic no fee Airmiles card you would need to spend $23600 to get 590 Airmiles
(590 x $40/Per 1 Airmile).

$23,600 at 1% would get me 236 dollars in free groceries with a PC Mastercard or a $79 Universal Ticket, with a Basic Airmiles credit card. For me I would be better off reducing my grocery spending by $236 and increasing the amount I need to spend on vacation, by $79. I gather with Airmiles the key is finding ways to get all the Bonus Airmiles.

I have actually just got one of the Mosaic Airmiles card but I got it strictly for the Annual Comprehensive Travel Insurance at $90 a year, I figure what ever I get with the actual Airmiles will be a bonus, so I am interested to see what Airmiles will get me.

Does anyone know how often Airmiles puts the Universal tickets on "Deal of the week"? Do they cycle through their deals often?

I missed it in May and want to use my airmiles for our trip in December....if they are going on sale before that, I would wait to order.

Thanks.

I use my airmiles for tickets often. Last year was Disney , which I exchange for Annual passes for just $35. This year didn't need tickets for Disney because we can use pass again this year before expiration, so I used for Universal. I watch airmiles frequently. Both Disney and Universal usually only go on once a year and it is usually late spring....

Don't need Disney tickets next year as we are doing land and sea and staying in Disney longer. I will exchange a 5 day hopper to AP and get more time next year. The following year, I will have enough airmiles for Disney and Universal both!

Love those airmiles!

I bought Universal tickets when they were on sale at Airmiles last year:cool1: I'm just holding them tight until we do a Universal trip instead of a Disney trip:thumbsup2

I believe that buying Disney tickets is an excellent use of Airmiles as they are one item that you rarely (if ever) find on sale!!!

I would never use my airmiles for a flight since I live so close to Detroit and can find low fares often!! Others may find using Airmiles for flights a good use, though, as flight prices can be astronomical in different areas of Canada (taxes:scared1: )!

I never thought to do this either. I have enough airmiles for our 4 tickets for March. :cool1:

I don't collect many airmiles, so would never have enough to fly the four of us anywhere, so this is a good use of those miles for me.

I bought the Universal Ticket with my airmiles in May, when it was deal of the week with the lower airmile points.

I don't know how often it comes up as deal of the week. If you have the points and are planning to go then buy them now. Even if you don't have enough for everyone, you will still get a deal on the ones you purchase. I only had enough points for one ticket, but I know I will be back in Orlando to use it sometime-I don't even have another trip planned at this point.

Why isn't that showing up as one of the options in the Deal section for me? Is it because I'm in BC???

Because it is not in the Deals right now. It was back in May. Right now it is 690 Airmiles for the 2 park unlimited pass.

Oh darn it :headache: Thanks for that - I got all excited and didn't look at the post date :sad2:

I sooooo wish Airmiles would put those passes on sale now - we'll be buying our passes within the next 2 weeks and we could do it now if they were on sale LOL

Thanks, Tricia :flower3:

I am assuming because this thread is from the spring..the deal of the week they are referring to took place back then.

I now need US/IOA tix..hope they come up again as DOW!

Thanks for everyone's responses and sorry for the confusion....I pulled up this old thread in hopes someone would know if the passes go on sale often through airmiles. I didn't mean to raise anyone's hopes.

Looks like they only go on sale once a year in the spring....I have a little time before my trip, but looks like I'll be buying them for 690 points.

Thx.

Not sure if this helps anyone but www.mousesavers.com has a Universal ticket deal listed through ticketmaster

Below copied from website:

-Day & 2-Day Ticket Discounts (MUST USE TICKETS BY DEC 23, 2008)

The best price I've seen recently on 1-Day and 2-Day tickets is through a special Ticketmaster link. Use the link and enter the code LATINQUARTER when you order tickets. You can have the tickets mailed to you for FREE, or print them out instantly for a fee of $1.75.

Prices with this special code and link (scroll down - these tickets are listed after the Halloween Horror Nights tickets):

1-Day/1-Park Adult: $54.99 plus tax
1-Day/1-Park Child: $46.99 plus tax
1-Day/2-Park Adult: $69.99 plus tax
1-Day/2-Park Child: $59.99 plus tax
2-Day/2-Park Adult: $75.00 plus tax
2-Day/2-Park Child: $63.00 plus tax

The unlimited passes are currently $99.99 on the universal website and I did not think that I would go for more than 2 days so I purchased the 2 day passes.
