Universal Meal Plan

I'm in the opposite side - we really disliked the Meal Plan - what's with having to pay for your drinks? and the cost of the Meal Deal cup is $6.99 over and above the cost of the meal deal AND it can only be refilled at the 4 places in IOA and 5 places in Universal. If you refill it at other places it will cost .75 cents. Also, all the places serve the same type of food.

I guess since we not big eaters it was not worth it for us! We also had gotten the CityWalk Plan and I didn't like that they have a complete different menu from the regular menu for the people on the meal plan and AGAIN sodas weren't included.

Universal needs to REALLY look at the Disney Dining Plan.

For us, we prefer to choose exactly what to order and just pay. Same goes for Disney's dining plan. We never (almost) order appetizers, entrees, and desserts. It would encourage us to eat too much. But so many folks do love it.

This plan at Universal looks mostly like the stuff we avoid on vacations: burgers and fries. I try to eat light (especially in Florida heat). Almost never eat a burger at Disney (maybe once per trip, then feel too full almost sick). Ditto for pizza - never really want it on vacation. We look for different stuff.

I think if you're really a big eater and like the typical stuff on the plan, go for it. Or those growing kids - my 11 year old (75 pounds) is also an eating machine!

One question: can you get ice water (tap) free like you can at Disney counter service? We don't do sodas - not the best in the heat. Rather fill up on tap water to keep hydrated. Bottles get warm too fast and really for $2.50 each it gets to be a waste of money.
