Hi i will be going to universal studios in April…. my kids and i love harry potter so we definitely want to experience that as much as possible.
Do I need one day or two days for universal?

What is an express pass? Im assuming its a way to skip to the front of the lines but is it very helpful? Does it work for most of the rides? would I be able to accomplish more on one day with an express pass vs 2 days with a normal ticket?
Should i purchase one before i go? Will that help me with harry potter?
Any advice for our trip (April 18th to the 24th)

I read that we could wait and buy the passes at the park but what if the fast pass tickets are already sold out by the time we get there?
Do we need a park hopper ticket?
Also, i see hotels are like 380 but that includes express tickets so if i work that out for a family of 4 (with fast passes).. its like 90 dollars for a fast pass times 4 people takes me to 360. So would the hotel basically cost me 20 dollars above my 360 outlay that i would have paid anyway if I purchased the express tickets?

And remember that you get express passes for the day you check in and the day you check out as well as early admission for both of those days.

Personally, I prefer the park to park pass because the parks are right beside each other.

Express passes cannot be used on Forbidden Journey (the ride inside Hogwarts), and Pteranodon Flyers, the Ollivander's wand show. You'll want to do Forbidden Journey and Ollivander's during early admission (especially in April)
