Whenever we go to universal we try to stay at a universal hotel. We have stayed at the Portifino Bay and Royal Pacific, but not the Hard Rock... so here's my question... Do you recommend the HR? How would you rate it compared to the RP and PB? Thanks! :mickeybar

We've stayed at HRH more than the other hotels. We really like it because it is closer to the parks than the other hotels, we like the ambience and have never had any problems there.

i, on the other hand, would have to say that the royal pacific is my favorite of the two. nothing against the HRH, but the Royal Pacific is just more relaxed, whereas, the HRH is kind of loud. i still love both places and would recommend staying at the HRH just to try it out.

The HRH is the closest to the parks.

They've had problems lately with guest checkins, and rooms being dirty, but hopefully they'll turn that around.

On my stay last year, we had no problems.

I'm staying at the RPR this year in July.

Our family has had the pleasure of staying at all three of the Universal Hotels and the Hard Rock is definitely our favorite! The atmosphere, the pool (the underwater speakers are the best!). My only complaint is that I wish there were more dining options at the HRH. Portofino is definitely the best in that department.

HRH is a beautiful hotel, but they have some serious problems with their employees.
1st trip house keeping refused to mop up the over flow from the toilet no matter how many times they were called by us or maintenance. Even when they cleaned the room they skipped the bathroom. DH ended up cleaning it up 36 hrs later, with bath towels.
Manager on duty the day we checked out gave us breakfast and a free return night. When I arranged for our free night and 2 additional night the main office upgraded it to 2 free night. This was confirmed at check in .That trip was the trip from hell. Took us 2 hrs to get into a room because front desk refuse to believe us, or security that the lock on our room didn't work. Finally was move to a different room at 1:30 am. Management called the room and said the 3rd night would be free because of the problem. Received final bill showing no charge for the room, but did show all our room key charges and for the roll away we had. The real fun started when my sisters credit card bill came. They charged us for 2 night. she called the HRH and was told the charges would not be reversed. Contacted the CC and they removed the charges. Next month they were on there again. Call CC again and was told they would investigate. HRH told the CC that we were told in person when handed the bill that the computer was down and that we would be charged for the room. The CC believed the lie and would not remove the charge. As much as I love the HRH I won't be stayign there again.

However we love RPR. Great service and neither my family or my sisters has had a problem.
