Universal Halloween Horror Night- rides?

I've never been, but wondering what rides are open during HHN? Or are they all closed and it's just haunted houses? Also, would it be too scary for a 12 year old! Any advice or info would be great!

Some rides are indeed open during the event. There are also scare zones and shows. Universal recommends 13 years or older for the event. This is an event that targets adults and teens -- not kids.
