Hi friends! Quick question. We are going to 1 day WDW + 1 day Universal. Kids are 5 and 8...8 year old is basically scared of rides. We are going to Universal specifically for Harry Potter (son probably will not ride anything scary). DD loves Cat in the Hat (isn't that there, too?).

Question: Is the FOTL thing worth it for us if we won't ride anything scary?

I am trying to decide if we should stay at the Universal hotel for FOTL or at our fav Dis hotel

THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE!!!!!!!!!!

Express Plus passes are valuable when it's busy but if you're going when it's typically slow, it's not worth the money. Staying onsite you would get unlimited Express to all participating attractions so he wouldn't have to ride something if he didn't want to. You could use Child Swap for those attractions.

Come over to the Universal boards if you have any specific questions. We will be glad to help.

More important than FOTL is the early entrance. Wizarding World can be an absolute zoo but with early entrance that you get from staying onsite, you can avoid a lot of the crowds and browse the Wizarding World much more leisurely. It doesn't sound like you will be doing many rides at IOA that are really popular if you aren't thrill ride people. The major ride in the WW is Forbidden Journey which is quite intense. The rides in Suess Landing sound more appropriate and I wouldn't buy an express pass just for that. Also there are some great exploration areas in Jurassic Park that don't require express passes. USF may have more rides that your kids like and you may want to consider getting a hopper pass.

If we knew the time of year you were planning on going, we might be better able to give you an idea on the crowd levels.

As for FOTL, for Harry Potter's FJ ride, there is currently no express line, so the FOTL won't do you any good on that one. With the smaller kids, and lack of coaster/thrill rides expected to be ridden, I'm not sure if FOTL would be worth it for you.

I'd also second the opinion that a park hopper would probably be worth it for you with the 2 smaller kids and only 1 day at the parks. At IOA you'd have Suess land with several rides for kids, and the play area back in Jurrassic Park area, but most of the park is going to be more thrill ride oriented. At US you'd have Jimmy Neutron, Shrek, ET, and the Fieval Play area. If you are going during an extremely busy time of year where crowds are really bad, staying onsite might be a better value for the FOTL for the few rides/attractions you'd be interested in that accept it than getting a 2-park express pass for you and your kids.

I would say to stay onsite. I think their hotels are awesome... they have great pools too.. you can take a mid-day break and go back to the hotel and swim..:goodvibes
