Universal Fastpasses?

I see that you can now pay extra to get a pass that allows you to go to the front of line at Universal - but it is expensive at the time of year we're going. Has anyone done it, and is it worth it? Are the waits a lot shorter, and are any attractions excluded? We will be visiting the Universal Orlando park only. Thank you.

Which Universal Orlando park are you visiting? Universal Orlando is the name of the resort area, like Walt Disney World is the name of the entire resort. WDW has 4 separate theme parks. Universal Orlando has 2 separate theme parks.

As for the worth of a Universal Express Plus pass, it depends on how much you think it is worth. Are you going to be arriving at opening at the parks? If so, you may not need the Express passes because you can do the majority of the park in the morning. Much like the Disney parks, the Universal parks become busy during the afternoon, around noon to 5 pm. If you are arriving in the afternoon or will be doing the majority of the rides in the afternoon, you might want to purchase the Express passes.

What time of year will you be visiting? If you are visiting during a slow period like the middle of September, Express passes are not needed because the wait times are very low. If you are visiting during a busy period like Christmas week, Express passes may be a worthwhile investment.

Many people think if you don't use Express passes, you will be standing in long lines forever. That is not necessarily so. Like Disney, if you arrive early and stay late, you can experience the majority of the attractions with a minimal wait. Some people here have techniques for you to avoid long lines, even during the busiest periods.

It's a better deal to stay onsite and get the unlimited FOTL. Express Pass would cost a family of 4 $200 per day in the summer and that only includes one ride on each attraction each day of the pass. My RPR room is costing me $182 (AAA rate) and includes unlimited rides on each attraction, using my room key.

You might want to check out Universal's web site to see what attractions are included for the park you want to go to. There are a lot of variables based on your family/group. The Pass you buy doesn't cover everything, and may include some things you don't want to do anyway, or wouldn't need it for. You may also end up with a 20-minute wait for some attractions even with the Pass, depending on crowds. And as has been noted, it's only one time per Pass on each attraction.

It covers every ride and show except for PT Flyers.

Thanks everyone - sorry for lack of info. We are going the last week in May, and visiting the original park, not the new one.

I wish we were staying on site for a night , but I hadn't been planning to go there - we don't usually venture out of WDW much! But, we have booked our DVC accommodation, and it's too late to cancel a night.

If you are there on Memorial Day weekend (May 26-28) , then it will be crowded.
