I was looking at a map of the plans for Universal’s “Fourth Gate” and was struck by the transport implications.
The expansion site is about four miles from the current parks so it looks like guests would probably have commute by shuttle if wanting to travel between parks.
People complain about the commuting between Disneyworld parks but at least you within the park grounds. I have always been surprised that Disney hasn’t done more about theming these transport routes but at least you aren’t driving past convenience stores and trash filled front yards (or stuck in long traffic jams).
Particularly for guests who stay in one of the site hotels part of the magic of Disney is that one can stay within the self-contained world, without the real world intruding, for the entire vacation. This won’t be the case for Universal.
What are people’s thoughts on the transport options for the new park?
