We re getting married in under 8 weeks at SBP:woohoo: , when we first was assigned a co ordinator we mentioned wanting to have a Unity Candle inc in our ceremony. However our co ordinator said due to the possibility of a breeze at SBP that it would nt be possible:sad2:

However i ve just read another thread where someone has mentioned that they re having a unity candle lit at SBP but that they re having to use a Hurricane Globe:confused:

Im very confused as now we ve planned & written our ceremony excluding a unity candle but if we could include this we would.:confused3

Can anyone please confirm whether a unity candle can be used at SBP??

If anyone has used one could you please send me some pics so i can see how it turned out?

Im not too sure what a Hurricane globe looks like so would be interested to see one
Also do Disney charge to set up a table to use during the candle lighting?

Thanks for your help :goodvibes

Technically, Disney discourages Unity candles at the outdoor locations because of the chance of windy conditions that would make it difficult to either keep the candles lit or to get them lit in the first place. I suspect that they REALLY discourage them at certain times of the year due to dry conditions and the possibility of fires.

However, I have also heard that they will allow them if a hurricane globe is used...they look like this:

You can try contacting your coordinator again and see about setting this up. I'm sure there is a rental fee for the globe(s) and if you want any floral decorations around it, there would be a charge for that as well.

Hope that helps some.

I really think I saw one in a hurricane on the Disney Special that was on WE.
Actually what you saw at our wedding on the WE special was my Dad's memorial candle. It was tucked in the corner in a hurricane so it wouldn't blow out at any point during the ceremony. (We also had Ken, our planner, light it prior to the ceremony- so I didn't have to worry about it b/c the thought of lighting it myself still makes me wanna cry-even though he's been gone for 18 years)

As far as the "unity candle", we went with a sand ceremony instead. That way we didn't have to worry about anything being blown out. (You can see how blustery it can get if you watch my veil in the Disney's Dream Weddings special) Also you can check out the WE TV website for a web video that shows the sand ceremony. (Just click on the video portion, page 2 and Jim and Kelly's Wedding)

Hope this helps--
:) Good Luck and Congrats!

They told us it would be a waste to have at SBP. I kind of like the sand ceremony though. It is something that you can really keep out and it stays the same from your wedding day unlike the candle which you have to blow out and just keep a candle. I think the sand mixed together is kind of sweet. :goodvibes
