I posted this in transportation also but I wanted to see if anyone has used this airline from Edmonton or anywhere else in Canada? Are their planes nice etc.? We usually fly westjet (like their planes) but the price is double from United so we might give them a try if they compare.

Thanks

Hey Mick,

We're flying with United on our upcoming trip (4/28-5/12), we also used them for our last trip. We had initially booked back in September but we ended up extending our trip so we had to change our flights. The price had dropped quite a bit per ticket and we only ended up paying an extra $5 per person to change.

I would highly recommend United as opposed to WestJet mainly because you'll have to go thru Toronto with WestJet; Toronto is the black hole for baggage. I have a friend that works for WestJet and he says that he'd never fly through Toronto.

From what I've been seeing on Expedia, United has some decently priced flights which arrive and depart at reasonable times. On our last trip we were able to leave fairly early in the morning, 3 hr layover in Denver, arrived in Orlando around 5 p.m. However, our flight back is horrendous; it departs Orlando at 7:35 a.m. which means that the Magical Express will be picking us up at 4:35 a.m. To top it off we have a 5.5 hour flight to L.A. But I was smart enough to pre-select our seats as an aisle seat and a window seat. This leaves the middle seat open and those are the last ones to go...hopefully it works out.

Hope this helps!

Our original flight back before we added days was really good; I think it left at 2:30 or so.

We used our aeroplan points to fly United out of Winnipeg. Flight to Chicago was on a Cdn Regional Jet ( Bombarier) 2 seats as side - commuter plane -

Chicago to Orlando 737 or airbus - can't remember

only 1 hr layover in Chicago each way & cleared customs in Winnipeg both ways.

Way better then flying through TO

bdtracey & princessNED,

Thank you for the information it really helped me out.

United codeshares with Air Canada so chances are pretty good that the flight out of Canada could actually be an AC flight even though you've got a United ticket.

Personally the only time I fly with AC is either if Westjet doesn't do that route or if I've got frequent flier miles to use on them. Other than that I'd personally pay more to fly with Westjet.
