I'm kinda freaking out because the weather was meant to be in the upper 60s to 70 for highs during our visit but we're less than two weeks out now and the forecast just keeps getting warmer and warmer! It's going to be near 80 every single day! This is a huge problem for me for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that I have recently lost almost 60lbs and haven't bought any warm weather clothes in my new size yet!

I have a friend from Orlando who insists that we should do shorts and t shirts and bring a jacket or sweatshirt for the evenings. Do you all agree? I'm kinda hoping we can get away with long pants (jeans, athletic pants) because I actually OWN those. We'd have to buy shorts and frankly I don't know where I can find any at this time of year! If you've been at the parks when the weather is going from 60-80 through a day, what did you wear?? TIA!

yes bring short and short sleeves as a Floridian I can say we do not have a winter like most do ( yes it dose get cold but it dose not stay cold long)

buy some summer cloths now and back for both summer and winter bring some layers to the park in case it is cooler at night (if it is 70 or below at night I always bring something like a sweeter a light weight jacket.) and if you forget something you are at Disney they will have something you can buy.

CONGRATULATIONS on the weight loss!

Although this goes against what you are hoping, when I went last year in February, we experienced warm days, with cool nights. Never HOT, never COLD. I wore shorts everyday, with an "under armor" type undershirt and tee shirt. I packed a sweatshirt in my backpack for the nights. I was never cold, and if I got too hot, I could take the base layer undershirt off.

Anytime you plan to come to Disney World, you should really plan for warm weather. It's cold today, but it's only lasting for about 2 days. Generally for Dec-Feb trip, unless it's projected to be freezing the entire time..you'll want to pack mainly shorts and shirts still but then bring a pair or two of jeans and a jacket.

I would strongly recommend going out and getting some shorts and shirts before your trip. All your local stores should still carry warmer weather clothes year round..if for some reason they don't, there's tons of stores around WDW

I'm in the same boat - lost weight, don't have a lot of warm weather clothes, and was planning on jeans and t-shirts (with a sweatshirt or cardigan in my backpack if it got chilly). I think I'm going to stick with that plan though - I can wear jeans and athletic pants in warmer weather and just plan on flip-flops instead of tennis shoes. I don't want to go out and buy shorts and capris when I'm hoping to be at least one size smaller by the time I need them this summer.

I agree with CONGRATULATIONS being in order.
I bring a couple of pairs of capris, I actually bought a nice comfy stretchy pair last year at Walmart on our way in from MCO.
I also bring one pair of long pants and a lightweight jacket/sweatshirt for cooler evenings. But definately shirt sleeve shirts. Way too hot (especially in Epcot where there doesn't seem to be much shade) to wear long sleeves.
The Florida stores all carry what we in the Northeast call "resort wear" all year long. So you may need to make a stop at Walmart, Target, Macy's etc. But I can guarantee they will have loads of choices in your new size!

I pack as little as possible and if there's a need for something else...it's a great excuse to buy more Disney clothes. (Not that I need an excuse.):earsboy:

Don't rely on a forecast that's almost "two weeks out", but be prepared by going online and ordering two pairs of capris with expedited shipping just to be sure. Also, there are many new shops in Disney Springs that will possibly have just what you need. Have a great time! I'm going in slightly less than two weeks also! :)

Personally, I'm not a shorts person.Doesn't matter how hot it is. So, please take my advice through that filter.

Casual swing type dresses or skirts might be a good option? Thinking dresses for you as a larger size may just be comfy and not as obviously oversized as a pair of shorts. I love the other recommendations of goodwill/thrift stores as a way to get warm weather clothes inexpensively.

We always travel to WDW in the early February time frame and I am most comfortable in pants/jeans with layers I can remove on top. And even if it gets hot while you are there it's not the humid hot that you would experience in the summer.

Congratulations on your weight loss. Have fun on your trip!

The humidity makes it feel warmer. I usually won't wear shorts unless it's in the 80s, but I can wear shorts in the 70s in Florida. I would bring shorts, at least 1 pair of long pants, and possibly a skirt or capri pants and short sleeve shirts with a hoodie, sweatshirt, or light jacket in case it gets cool. I would expect that it could be in the 80s or in the 40s. That's what we saw the week between xmas and New Years.

EDIT: Also, I am starting to see places selling summer and spring clothes now.

Weather will be unpredictable.. Anything you don't pack is somethign you might end up buying at disney prices, taking your time to buy it, and then figuring out how to get it home which might require both a bag to take it home in and the bag fee to have another bag...

but don't go nuts, pack mostly for the forecast but have a day, maybe 2 of opposite weahter clothing. keep in mind 60 at night is cold when you had an 85 day so you want that other weather clothes to include early morning and late night layered options as you'll be very likely to need them. Laundry pods tossed into your bag will help you keep costs down if you need to do extra laundry late at night or early in the morning because the weather changed from the forecast and your using the other weather clothes more than you expected.

PS - I'm a recently moved here local and when I see 70 at night, I'm in pants and have a hoodie with me. I get cold at 70 and more when in the parks and 70 with some sweat I didn't feel until it got cold. When I lived in nyc, 60 was flanel shirt, 50 was hoodie and 40 was winter coat.

It's been awhile but we were there in December and while it was totally comfy in shorts and even tank tops, down right delicious even, the minute you went into an attraction or a restaraunt, the A/C was on full blast as if it were August! It made it miserable. Attractions that don't last long were one thing but it ruined many sit down experiences. I felt blue at the lips and digits several times.

Congrats on the weight loss. What better excuse to have to buy yourself new clothes!!! :dogdance:

We'll be there about the same time. I'm bringing tank tops, skirts, a pair of jeans, a couple of sweaters, and a light jacket. Will wear all with sandals.

I totally feel your pain! I'm still in the process of losing pregnancy weight and I don't want to buy a new swimsuit just for this upcoming trip (that I'll probably only fit into this one time), so I'm going to be rocking my maternity swimsuit from the summer! If it wasn't such pleasant weather I wasn't even going to worry about swimming- but you better believe I'm going to be poolside in 80 degree weather in January! (It's 4 degrees where we are right now)

I'm not much for shorts, I like skirts, because that way nothing rubs like shorts can, and when I've been in Jan. and Feb. it was FAR easier to layer with leggings and some cardigans that having to bring shorts AND pants. Athletic skirts are very forgiving in terms of sizing so even if you lose more weight (BTW, CONGRATULATIONS, that's amazing) they should still fit, but hopefully you've hit your goal and can really celebrate your success in WDW!
