Yes, I'm a dedicated Disney fanatic who actually "won" a trip to Universal (air, tickets and 3 nights at HRH) and was really not looking forward to going. I even booked 3 nights at Disney after the HRH stay to make my trip "worth while".

WAS I EVER WRONG!!!!!

The HRH was fantastic!!!! Clean, friendly, convenient and mostly FUN! I actually was sad to leave. A few perks:
-You hear great music everywhere you go (Prince, Blondie, Elvis, U2 etc)
-Great food - we had a very nice buffet breakfast at The Kitchen - they even ask if you want juice and coffee "to go"!! We also ate dinner there twice - 1 was a character meal with Scooby and Woody Woodpecker - who asked me to dance with him (son got a kick out of that)
-Dive in Movies - we saw "Alvin and the Chipmunks" by the pool. There was a little chill in the air that night but it was cozy laying on lounge chairs with a blanket drinking coffee and enjoying the movie.
-Convience - 3 minute walk to the parks (or there's a water taxi) and Citywalk.
- Express lanes on rides!!!! Probably the best perk ever!!!
- Family oriented. Small kids, teens, adults - little of everything and everyone was having fun.

Don't get me wrong - I'm definately a Disney nut and nothing will ever replace Mickey for me - but - I was really enjoying my stay at HR (and some things I must admit were better then Disney). Next year when we do our 10 day at Disney, we will probably do 3 nights at HR and stay only 7 at Disney ( I can't believe I'm actually saying that!!!)

Great place.

Welcome to the dark side!!! :goodvibes

glad to hear you enjoyed the trip.

another universal homie in the making........

WOW! That was a GREAT trip to win! I'm glad you enjoyed it. My kids were entering the Campbell's Soup Rule the Parks Sweepstakes every day while it was going on. I don't know if they have selected the winners yet for that contest, so who knows..... In the past, we have done Disney and Universal both, but this year we are just going to US/IOA for a total of 7 days.

Glad to hear you had a wonderful time. The only thing I'm not real crazy about with HRH is it seems so big, we have a tendancy to get lost :rotfl:

It's refreshing to hear a Disney nut have a good time at UO and NOT compare the two parks....

Now you see what we have been trying to say all along....

Thanks for reporting back....cya at UO :thumbsup2

the HRH is the smallest of all the hotels.
it only has 650 rooms.

it's all one building.
rph has 3 buildings. that one i figured out where to go and when , even the water taxi dock!

To us..RPR is easier to figure out....the layout of each building is the same.... We just couldn't remember where we were going in HRH...then again, we were only there 1 night too...... Interesting to see how 'lost' we get runnin around PBH :rolleyes1

:rotfl:

Glad you enjoyed UO. We are also Disney fans and own DVC but actually have been spending more time year at UO every year. Can't beat the FOTL or the value of the resorts as compared to WDW. I also like that UO is not so spread out and is much less crowded WDW.

Visit WDW first or you will be spoiled by FOTL when you move over to Disney. FOTL converted my family over to Universal and my Disney ties go back 50 years.

Yupper, I started having the opportunity to go to Disney parks almost every year after I turned twelve. After all the perks and fun at HRH, UO and IoA, we are now BIG fans of Universal! We might do Disney again someday, but for now we're really hooked on UO. I can't wait until January's trip! :cool1:  :yay: :dance3:

Just wait:rotfl2:

When we arrived last month, I checked us in and got our room keys. Thanked the reservationist and turned to leave.

She said "wait", I need to show you where your rooms are."

Well, they were in the west wing, a place we know well.

I grinned and said, "don't worry, we were just here a couple of months ago, I know exactly where the room is"

My family of 5 (all of us well versed in PBH layout) headed off to use the third floor passage to the West Wing. Long story shortened - we ended up on the plaza right before heading down the steps to the beach pool. We knew exactly what we had done and had a good laugh about it! But it is easy to get turned around in that place, even for the seasoned visitors.

OP - so glad to hear you had a great time. Thanks for posting!

Now you have two more great parks to love when you come to Orlando. :teeth:

We've always split stays between Disney and Uni. However, our last couple of stays at HRH have been so perfect that we're thinking of staying there for the whole trip next time.

Service is great. City Walk is right there with great restaurants. And as you mention, the Express Pass is worth it's weight in gold.

Just don't stay in the Club level rooms. Once you do, you're hooked!

Since you admitted it I guess I should fess up that I got lost in the hospitality suite hallways on my last trip. At least I was alone and didn't have the kids razzing me about beeing a PBH "expert".

You guys are worrying me! We're staying at the PBH for the first time in June and I know I'll get lost now!

Yeah, but I'm gonna want to get to the rides and I'm gonna get ticked if I can't get there.....

you'll get there....you'll find it. If nothing else works, take the elevator to the lobby floor...and just start walking...you'll find it....(if you run into a wall, stop tho :teeth: )

:confused3 Went there Tuesday pool-hopping.Why do they have stairs going up to go down?

are you talking about hrh or pbh?

i think there are two sets of conversations going on right now here.
which is normal for the UO homies.......

hrh has the stairs from the lobby by the gift shop to downstairs.

turn left at the bottom and go outside to the pool.
