After seeing another preview for "Cars", I am still struggling with generating any interest in this move. It doesn't look all that funny (to me) and the characters seem kinda bland and uninteresting.

Is it just me? For those who are excited about the movie, is it because of a love of cars or NASCAR?

Maybe if I was more interested in cars, I would be more excited. However, it's not like I was all into sea creatures (Finding Nemo) or insects (Bugs Life) but I found both of those movies fantastic.

For Disney/Pixar's sake, I hope the move makes a ton of money. Hopefully, I am just an aberration and there really is a lot of interest out there. However, from a preview and topic standpoint, I just don't get it.

Our family is very excited for this movie, especially the kids and DH. We love the previews and think it's going to be really funny.

We are a NASCAR and dirt track family, but I'm not sure that has anything to do with it.

Loads of people into films have been concerned about this one - including me!

Most people don't find Pixar teasers to be that good, but I usually love them... until Cars.

I'm just having faith in Pixar - they haven't let me down before!

I'm interested... But I love cars.

If I didn't love cars, or didn't have kids, or had just crawled out from under a rock with no clue about Pixar's quality of storytelling, it might be different for me.

There's just no way I'm not gonna see this movie, unless I'm blinded or die before it's released. :hourglass

Based on the previews it does look like they may have cut things short banking that NASCAR fans will go watch anything that includes NASCAR. Having the Cable Guy involved doesn't hurt either as far as pulling in fans who like the guy.

On the other hand, I didn't think the Nemo previews looked very good either and I really liked that one.

I don't like NASCAR at all, but I'm looking forward to Cars just because it's a Pixar movies and my sons love playing with cars. I hope I'm not disappointed. I wasn't that thrilled with The Incredibles, but it's still better than other recent kid movies.

I can't wait for this movie. I think the previews look great.

I'm not a huge NASCAR fan, but I do like it. I also like cars.

But I also know that Disney/Pixar has a knack for a good STORY. And that will determine whether or not it is a hit. Not because of NASCAR fans........because of the story.

Maybe I'm just too much of a semi-realist because I just don't care anything about seeing cars portrayed as animate objects. I LOVED The Incredibles because it was about humans. Finding Nemo(which I loved) and A Bug's Life(which I never saw) were about creatures. Toy Story - at least Toys look like animate objects (people, animals, etc). I liked Monster's Inc., but it was not easy for me to get into since monsters don't exist. Cars seems like a step backwards. I might like it okay if I saw it, but a movie about inanimate objects being alive just doesn't appeal to me at all. Plus the hillbilly-sounding car in the preview really bugged me - just for the short amount of time I had to watch him there.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand the story aspect of Pixar.

Actually, maybe part of the real issue I'm having is that I can't find a story in the previews (that and, again to me, the previews aren't that funny to begin with).

Time will tell, and I hope I am wrong and totally love the movie.

Point taken. Now that you mention it, I can't remember a Pixar flick (except "A Bug's Life") where there weren't at least minor elements of the story known to the public this close to release date.

Lightning McQueen (voice of OWEN WILSON), a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. On route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship in California to compete against two seasoned pros, McQueen gets to know the town's offbeat characters -including Doc Hudson (a 1951 Hudson Hornet with a mysterious past, voiced by PAUL NEWMAN), Sally (a snazzy 2002 Porsche voiced by BONNIE HUNT), and Mater (a rusty but trusty tow truck voiced by LARRY THE CABLE GUY) - who help him realize that there are more important things than trophies, fame and sponsorship.

The all-star vocal cast also includes free-wheeling performances by Tony Shalhoub, Michael Keaton, Cheech Marin, George Carlin, Katherine Helmond, and John Ratzenberger. Delivering more fun and authenticity to the cast for "CARS" are vocal performances from some of the all-time greatest names from the racing world including the legendary Richard Petty, plus "drive-on" roles by Mario Andretti, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Darrell Waltrip (who holds the record for five-wins at the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600), and Michael Schumacher, the ace German Formula 1 racing legend, who is a seven-times world champion, and is widely considered to be the best Grand Prix racing driver of all-time.

I usually find previews offputting so I don't figure on that being an accurate assessment for myself. Heck, I detested hated the previews (what, almost 2 years worth?) for The Incredibles, a ultra favorite of DH's and mine. Wasn't fond of Finding Nemo previews either and really hated the idea of Monsters Inc....yet found them all to be wonderful movies.

I won't probably go out of my way to see Cars but if we find time and if it comes to our pizza theater we'll probably go. LOL

.

We're looking forward to it here. DS5 is very into cars and the noises that go along with them. I hope it will be a movie he loves!

We're looking forward to it just because it's Pixar! We've loved every Pixar movie so far and I hope Cars doesn't disappoint. We're also looking forward to bringing DS...he loves playing with cars (he really enjoyed the stunt show at MGM).

I am in the minority too...

I can't wait to see this movie!!!

With you on this, my friend. SSB didn't really care much for "Robots", either... haha! Hoping wrong, and find more entertaining than I feel right now.

Entertaiment Weekly gave the previews a very low mark ...
