Understanding AP rate discounts

We took the plunge and got APs on our April trip. While there, I booked a bounce back for December, and tried to apply my AP, and was told those dates are not released yet.

How do you get an AP rate? If I understand correctly, they come out just a couple months ahead of time. I'm assuming that in most cases, the room type that I would want (WL courtyard) would be booked, and they'd only have parking lot or lobby room available.

Is this the likely scenario?

Or, if you book your room ahead of time, and the AP dates are release, can you call and have the AP rate applied to your existing reservation?

You are in August-September AP rates at the moment. You will see December's sometime in November. Also, I do not believe they will let you book AP rate with Bounceback.

You would have already gotten a discount with the Bounceback. You won't get an additional discount. You can always compare the rates, and take whichever one is better.

You can book a room, and then when AP rates come out, and there is availability, you can apply the rate to your reservation.

For the last few years WL has actually had an abundance of December AP discount courtyard view rooms...We just want standard but they're really hard to get. Last year we did manage it (OMG YAY!) but 2005 we did not, all they had was courtyard.
