Hi.

I want to purchase six 4 day UT tickets, with the free two day option, making it 6 days.

One ticket will be used in January and the other five tickets will be used over Easter in April.
When I go to purchase, this is what UT is requesting I choose:

*****************
Mailed Ticket: Go straight to the gate and onto the rides. No will call exchange necessary. This is the exact same ticket you would receive at the gate. You may link this ticket to My Disney Experience for FastPass+ reservations and add it to your MagicBand. If your first date of use for this ticket(s) is after February 28, 2019, please select E-Tickets above and read the policies for that ticket.

***************

What is the reasoning for my having to get one hard ticket for January and the other electronic?
What would happen if I wasn't sure when I would go?
Is there a reason I just don't want to get all six tickets in hard ticket form and then link myself in MDE?

Thank you.

The hard tickets expire Feb 28, the electronic one are Dec 31, 2019. I would get all electronic tickets and link them in MDE. There is no benefit to the hard tickets.

The benefit to the hard tickets is that they’re refundable (less a 5% restocking fee) if they haven’t been linked in MDE.

If you’re 100% certain you will be going, there’s no harm in getting the e-tickets.

I also have a question about e tickets. I always stay offsite, will not have a magic band. Usually I use my hard ticket for fastpasses. What would I use with an e ticket?

Thank you very much! Even if any of the plans changed, the tickets would eventually be used at a later date so I am going to get electronic tickets for all.

This was very helpful.

Thank you.

I think you have to go to guest relations and get a plastic ticket.

This is correct. BonnieA, I saw information on UT that said if you are off site that you need to bring the paper
with you to Guest Services.

Also, quick question regarding above, my sister will have a MB for her two night stay at the BW and then
she is moving off site. She booked room and then tickets separately, not together. I am guessing she can still
use her MB for the rest of her off sight stay since her tickets/fp will be on MDE, is this correct?

Even if she wasn't staying at BW and had MB from last year/two years ago, she could also use those is that also correct?

Making sure I understand it all.

Thank you all for your responses regarding my hard/eticket question. I went ahead and purchased the etickets and assigned to each person. It was very easy. Thanks.

Thank you.

Also, with the kerfuffle that has been MDE the last month, hard tickets were a bit of a reassurance that even though half our party disappeared in MDE we would still all be able to get in the parks. And, I'm just old and prefer tangible goods :P

Hard plastic tickets function just like MBs. They link to the data in the MDX system so if a guest has MBs, they don’t need a plastic ticket.

An eticket can be exchanged at the entrance touchpoints for a plastic ticket in addition to the Ticket Windows and Guest Relations.

Yeah, on our most recent stay we were offsite, so no MB. Thus the relief of avoiding the MDE kerfuffle with hard tickets :)

The only way to bypass MDX/MDE is to never have linked your plastic ticket to your MDX account. If you had linked and booked FPs, you were using MDX at park entrances with your plastic ticket.

Just clarifying so others understand a linked plastic ticket becomes a MB for park entrance and FPs.

A linked eticket with MB is the same as a linked plastic ticket which anyone can pick up at a Ticket Window but are unnecessary if a MB is linked to MDX.

I recently bought a 3 day PH plus for my DD on another discount site. Got a hard ticket, says it expires January of 2020. She won't have a MB and with a short trip I didn't want to have to wait at GS or a ticket booth to get her a hard ticket there. (didn't realize she could do it at an entrance touchpoint)

On the website I used it looks like the 6 day base tickets expire end of 2019, with an option for mailed tickets. They are a little cheaper than UT if you link through the TP site (I am not a member of TP but have used their link). I don't see anything there about hard tickets expiring sooner.

You can link the e-tickets via an MDX account, with or without a magic band, right?

It just depends on when the ticket resellers bought their allotment of plastic tickets from Disney. UT had been confirming Feb 2019 as the expiration on their hard ticket allotment.

I never understand how it all works, when you buy from Boardwalk, the credit card charge says Disney.

Thanks. I realized I totally misread the verbiage on UT’s site. Feeling pretty embarrassed right now...:headache:
I didn’t want to ‘Like’ your post because you shouldn’t be embarrassed.

I think the urgency of purchasing tickets prior to Oct 16th is stressing people out.
