Anyone else notice the undercover guys hanging out by the security tables at the front of the parks?
Our last trip in Oct/Nov we noticed a guy sitting on a bench in plain clothes with a clear earpiece in. We started watching and we would find a similar guy at every entry way. Anyone else notice this?

They're not just at the entrances -- they're all over the parks, too.

Yes, WDW uses Undercover Security. And those clear earpieces are gone now; traded for less obvious communication devices. Some of these Security CMs also carry around dummy merchandise bags or beverages -- to appear more like Guests. There are a few telltale signs -- which, out of respect for the job they do, I'm certainly not going to go into here.

True Story Time: I know a CM who was once approached by a man who claimed to be Undercover Security. Her suspicion was aroused and she alerted the real Security team. Turns out the impostor was a wanted felon.

This was quite an interesting read....but also alarming.

If there are people scamming as security at the parks, SHOULDNT we kinda know what the real ones look like? :confused3

honestly, I am glad they are taking extra security measures to ensure the safety of my family. Some of the things i have heard lately are a little scary.

No, you shouldn't. And let this be a warning: Trying to impersonate a WDW Security CM is harder than it looks and a really, really bad idea.

I'm not going to give the Bad Guys any information that would make their jobs easier. But I will say this: any legitimate CM -- in Security or otherwise -- will be able to produce a company-issued ID upon request. If someone who looks like a Guest claims to be Undercover Security, feel free to ask them to either produce a Cast ID or summon a Uniformed Security CM for you. If they refuse, leave the area immediately and notify the nearest costumed CM.

I should also mention that in the story I told above, the scammer wasn't trying to scam a Guest -- they were trying to scam a CM into admitting them into one of the theme parks.

When I went through D Univ. as a CM, many years ago (20) they told us that up to 1 in 10 were either CM or security at any given time in the parks. They seemed to be saying that the security was WAY high, and that you would probably never "see" most of them. That seems like an awfully high ratio. does anyone know what that number might look like now?

I have a quick question... If you do not plan on doing something wrong, why worry what they look like? or is it like a bad accident, you have to look??:confused3 You people are too funny!

Yes, we also noticed that undercover agents, if that's they call them but nothing to be scared unless your not doing something against anyone, nothing happens to you.

Have a nice day everyone. :)

I've seen the uindercover agents in action inside the parks. I just thought it was interesting how they were so obviously hanging out by the front almost as if there was something going to happen.
