When we went many years ago, our youngest was 2. She ate free everywhere we went. We actually ordered off the child's menu and wasn't charged for it. Does Disney still offer this?
Thanks

Our daughter is now 19 months and everytime we've ordered her a meal from the kid's menu (or adult menu) we've been charged for it. I think they only eat free at buffets or if they share your meal at a sit-down place.

Under 3 eats free at buffets and if they eat off of your plate (or anyone at your table). If you order a meal off the kids menu for them, you are charged for it.

We were just there 2 weeks ago, and had no problem with our 1 yr. old eating off of our plates - except at Ohana's - we were on the dining plan and they charged us a TS credit for him because we asked for a plate for him (but he was only eating food from our plates - did not order a kid's meal). All other restaurants did not charge us anything for sharing, they did not even charge us for a drink for him, although we fully expected to pay. Anytime we ordered him a separate kid's meal however, we did pay.

The child eats free only if they share the food on your plate.

If you order a childrens meal, you have to pay for it. That is how it worked for us recently at every restaurant we have eaten at with our grandaughter (2).

 What did you do? Did they expect you to feed him directly on the table? The average 1 yr old eats only a little bit and to have a TS for him would have been robbery. IMHO I would have been a bit upset!

Wow......they had to make a mistake. My DD is 18 mths and they gave her a plate at 'Ohana and I didn't even ask for it. I was not charged a TS for her. Same thing at LTT which is served Family style too and they didn't charge either.

We are at WDW right now. Our boys are 22 months old. They have been free at the buffets and the all you can eat restaurants. At counter service locations or if we ordered items from the kids menu at non-buffet places, we'd be paying for it.

At Ohana, they ate free and even got their own drinks. At Garden Grill they brought out the whole kid's meal including the "make your own cupcake" at no extra charge. We'll find out Friday what happens when mom & dad order the "feasts" at Marrakesh.

We just returned yesterday and at CRT lunch, they brought out an appetizer plate, buttered noodles, and a kids dessert for our 14 month old daughter at no charge.

That is more like what we experienced when DD1 was just 2 1/2. At the Buffets and Ohana Bfast, she got her own plate and drink N/C. The only place it was awkward was CRT Bfast, but they gave me a plate for her and she ate a bit of everyone's serving. She was in to much awe of the Princesses to really eat anyway.

When we go back DD2 will be 2 1/2 and at CRT lunch I just plan on using a TS credit for her so each DD will get a meal. (I should have 1 extra as I plan on having the girls dine with their Gparents one night so we can have a night out in Epcot for a Grown Up dinner. They can eat CS for that night.) or I'll pay OOP to avoid the issue. I know both girls will want that crown desert. princess: For the rest of the week, I plan on splitting meals when I can since the portions are huge or we will be eating buffet :goodvibes .

I was posting at the same time so I missed this. But my DD1 would LOVE that instead of a regular kids meal. (she has a thing for noodles.) :rotfl:

Did you ask for something or did they offer?

We also thought this was a mistake, and pointed it out to the front desk at our hotel after the meal - the CM was less than friendly about it, and stated that the TS charge was correct because we had asked for a plate for our son (he didn't even get a drink, we had juice with us!!!). Needless to say, we were NOT happy about this, but what else could we do? Thankfully we did not have this experience at any other restaurant. I am glad to hear that no one else is experiencing this - what a waste of a TS credit! But we weren't going to let one bad experience ruin the rest of our otherwise magical trip!

We didn't ask for anything...it was all offered. I had heard about the kids under 3 getting buttered noodles, so I wasn't really suprised by that, but I definitely wasn't expecting an appetizer plate, dessert, or drink. We had a really hard time getting my daughter to eat during our vacation (and this child NEVER turns down food so we were a little shocked), but she ate a ton during this meal!

When we ate at Boma, we were charged a TS credit for my 2 year old. I didn't notice it until we were back at the room, and when I went to the guest relations desk to ask about it, she said it was incorrect and put the credit back. My daughter looks older than her age because she is so tall, but she was in a high chair. On the ADR I said she was 2. Mistakes happen, but it was so nice to have the mistake fixed at the hotel with no questions at all.

I have never heard of the "if they have a plate, they have to be charged" theory. If it were ever to happen again, I would just point out to the hotel CM that you have "x" number of paying plan people in your party and you were accidentally charged for one more person. Don't get into details in case you get a mean CM.

a waste of a TS credit?

I thought in another post you stated they credited the TS credit back to you

Our under-three son ate off our plates or from the buffet. He has a food allergy so many of the chefs fixed him a special plate of food fresh in the kitchen. Servers always provided plenty of extra plates and water in hard-to-spill cups. We didn't order milk for him at meals since he tend to drink too much milk and not eat enough food.

glad to see i'm not the only one confused. lol

My apologies for not making it clear that eventually yes, the TS was credited back to our dining plan. I stated that it was a waste of a TS credit because we were unable to use it because it was the last day of our trip and our last meal was at the Rainforest Cafe, which is not a part of the dining plan.
