Unconfirmed report that The Enchanted Tiki Room will return to its original form

It figures that it's closed when I go. I've never seen this attraction before...and it was on my must do list next month....ugg

Obviously the fire is what initiated the re-hab, but I wonder if Gilbert Goffried's controversial comments about the Japan earthquake led to (at least in part) the decision to remove his affiliation from the attraction.

I also heard he just lost his gig as the duck too, one more reason to avoid that company. I've always hated his voice, and I love the Tiki Room at Disneyland. I'll be very happy if this report is true. :)

This is great news. While I love Gilbert Gottfried as a comedian, I hate, hate, hated the Under New Management version of the Tiki Room.

Let's hope this is all true

I hope this is not just a wishful thinking unconfirmed rumor. I love the Tiki Birds and would love it more if they went back to the original.

That could be the reason.

Even Aflac has taken his voice away from the Aflac duck commercials. (AFLAC!!!!! )

I have NO idea exactly what Mr. Goffried said about Japan, and in a way I don't even want to Google it to find out.

But - Back to the topic, I'm all for bringing back the old show, if only for nostalgia's sake.

I *have* noticed a small resurgence in that little Florida orange juice bird, on T-shirts and figurines. Perhaps the sponsorship of the attraction in going back to the FL Orange Juice council or Tropicana or something.

Who knows. :confused3

The Orange Bird brings me back to my childhood, first visit to WDW.

I have a Little Orange Bird plastic bank from the early seventies. I do not know if it came from Magic Kingdom or someplace else in Florida. I was in high school, but memories are still blurry.

I hope it does return to the original show. I really enjoyed that one. I only went into the "under new management" show when there was nothing else to do.

I'm the same way. For whatever reason some of my clearest, earliest memories of the MK involve The Tiki Room, and that Orange Bird.

Of course, now as I sit here typing this, I can't quite remember how they were connected. He was part of a display in the "Q" outside of the Tiki Room, right ?

Maybe those memories aren't so clear after all.

At any rate, here's an OLD commercial with Anita Bryant and The Orange Bird. (Oh, the comments I could make... ;) )
