Unable to get a reservation

Help!! I want to eat at the Tusker House for a character breakfest on Sept. 20 and no times are available, I know that times do open up but I don't know the best way to do it. Whats the secret to getting a reservation, am I to late? Is there another in park breakfast place that I can try, I really want the "main" Disney Characters. Thanks so much!!!!

There is no secret. Just keep checking online several times a day, be flexible with the date and time you wish to eat here.
Often 45 days out from your day you wish to go you will find times opening up, as people have to cancel their trip and therefore their ADRs.

Chef Mickey's has the main characters at breakfast time, so you can try that as well.

As the PP stated, there is no trick. You are very late trying to obtain an ADR for a popular character breakfast. Folks have been able to do this since 180 days (+ 10 for Disney resort guests) since the date you want.
All you can do now is check as frequently as you can to try and snag a rare cancellation. Luck does happen, just not often. Try even after you arrive, but have alternative plans.
It is late to be making September reservations for in park restaurants

While it is true that she is a little later in the game, I don't think she will need THAT much luck. So gloom and doom. I made ALL my ADRs at about 90 days out for July 4th weekend...I got CP breakfast before rope drop, Ohana dinner, and TH breakfast. I even changed my TH breakfast day and time at least 3 times.

Just keep trying. How many in your party? There are some tips about splitting the party up if it is a large party

I agree... you never know what days will open up. I just had to shift some of our ADR's around for a change in plans and our dates are 6/30-7/9. I was surprisingly able to get everything I wanted changed, I just had to be a little flexible on time. However, if you're going during free dining I think it will be tougher.

No secret, just keep checking. We booked a last minute trip in a few weeks and I looked every day, lets just say A LOT and yesterday afternoon I got Cali Grill for a perfect (to me) time although nothing was available. That was probably quicker than you might get but it is a lot closer than your Sept trip. I would just keep checking, especially when it gets closer or when you are there, more things might open up as people cancel/change plans.
