Unable to book DVC Resorts for December of 2008

Is there some reason that there is a block on booking December of 2008 already? I have been trying to gather data for a trip next year that will include my partner's mom and for that trip, a two bedroom suite would be perfect, but I can't seem to find any availablity anywhere for the second week of December. Did I miss some memo about a booking blackout? TIA Maggie

They allow a certain amout of time to give the DVC owners time to book their trips. They will open up to the public probably in May or June. DVC owner's have 11 months to book at their home resort and 7 months at another. Now all of this was told to me by a CM.

DVC members own about 96% of the rooms. As members start to trade out to other resorts, that will open up availability. Members cannot book before 11 months prior, so there will not be much availability now.

I usually can't get a reservation through CRO until about 6-7 months out.

As stated above members can't book anything until 11 months out. We're planning on going Dec 2008 and can't even think of booking anything for another month at our home resort, so you would see any availability until next month, at the earliest.

Thanks to everyone for the info. I can wait another month or so. It's just hard when I, the family Disney guru, can't provide answers quickly to all of the questions. Maggie

Did you call CRO or checked on the website? I would call CRO. In my opinion, the website is notoriously unreliable on availability.

They will probably tell you the same things the other posters on the thread stated. DVC members get first dibs at DVC resorts.

Typically DVC resorts are 100% booked to capacity during the entire month of December....Just returned from the BWV on Sunday and there was no availability for the entire month...I know this because I asked to switch to a higher floor and the CM explained that this is the busiest time of the entire year for DVC and the resort was at 100% capacity for the entire month.

I would suggest calling CRO and finding out exactly when you will be able to make a ressie...Then call on the exact day....There will be very limited availbility. Or you might check out the rent trade board here on the DIS and rent points from a DVC member. This would be less costly.

Good Luck! After staying in DVC you may find yourself owning DVC..That is what happened to us after our first trip in a villa.
