Un-used Fast Passes

Let's say that you get a Fast Pass for Peter Pan that is good from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. At 12:30, your kids decide that they want to go to a water park for the afternoon and you acquiesce. You now have a set of Fast Passes that you won’t be using. Should you throw them away or give them to strangers?

Absolutely give them to strangers. A spot is reserved, they don't care who takes that spot.

We've given them to strangers and also brought them home as mementos for the scrapbook.

Give to strangers. We've had them given to us. We pass on the favor if the occassion arises. During the giveaways last year, a man won the immediate fast passes for being in the right place and the right time. He didn't want them and handed them to me.

You could always save the fastpass and use it later. I am not 100% sure on Disney World's policy but at Disneyland a fastpass never expires and can always be used at a later time.

Give them away if you can. We've given ours away several times.
Or, if you plan to be back in that park again later that same day, you should still be able to use them even though your window of time is over.

My DD and I found some fastpasses that someone left on a table at MK in June. They were for Winnie the Pooh and the window time had expired, so I guess that's why they were left. We were able to pick them up and use them. It was a nice magical moment for us!

We always give them away as we are leaving the park. :goodvibes

If you are not going back to the park this trip I would give them away. The passes are good from the first time on the window until the world ends or the ride ceases to operate permanently. I think it is a bit extreme to keep them for a future trip but if you are going back to the park later that day or later in the trip and want to do the ride there is nothing wrong with keeping them.

If I know I'm not coming back to that park that day, I give them away. If I'm coming back, I keep them & use them later.

We try to find a family that really looks like they could use some pixie dust and give them away.:goodvibes

We have always given them to another group, mainly because I thought they were only good for the times on the front. I never would have imagined that I can use them after they expire.

Wait a minute. Either I'm being extra blonde today or something changed about the FastPass system. I remember that you had to return within a certain timeframe, no later.

Since I haven't done any WDW trip planning for a while, something certainly could have changed.

Technically the fastpass lists an end time but its Disney policy to accept all fastpasses even after the printed endtime

They're more focused on the start time than the end time. Several years ago, we were about 20 minutes late for our fast pass time and I thought, what the heck, I'll ask. The CM told me that as long as it was after the start time, we could still ride even if we'd missed the end time. We've been doing that ever since and no CM has ever denied us admittance. I don't use them on a different day, though.

To answer the OP's question, we give them away if we're leaving the park. I've had a few people act like I'm trying to sell them magazine subscriptions but usually someone else will scoop them up. :rotfl:

I think they do have to be used on the day they are issued. They technically want you to use them during that 1 hour window, but will almost always except them up until park close. I don't believe you can use a regular fastpass on another day (there are some that can be used on later dates). Has anyone actually done so?

Give them to strangers, of course, though we have used expired ones before.

We have been turned away before because our fast passes were expired, so either that's not the official policy, or the cm didn't know it was.

I always give them to strangers if I'm not going to be back during the specified time.

I know that some say that you can get away with using an expired fast pass, but I'm one of those extreme rule followers that can't bring themselves to.

A fastpass lists a beginning and and end time only because they hope the majority of people will use them inside that window. It helps them manage the line easier. If you faspass says return between 1:00pm and 2:00pm you can use it anytime after 1:00pm. It doesn't actually expire at 2:00pm.

I had a CM tell me that they really don't expire, and can be used anytime during the start time. We always used them after the expiration time, and never had a problem.
