My 2 year old ds JUST got off his school bus. (He goes to an early intervention school for autism for 2 hours a day)The bus driver told me that my ds is making a funny noise as she drives and its high pitched and very distracting. I said Ok
She than elaborated and said that he always makes noise on the bus . He is very excited when he gets on his school bus . What am I supposed to do ? He's 2 years old but cognitively 6 months old!! I was puzzled as to why she confronted me about it in such a hostile manner. She said she "Can't deal with it anymore" as if she will tell the bus company she cant drive my ds home . WOW....Isnt that what the matron is on the bus for?! To make sure the kids are OK and safe on the bus. If It bothers you so much than why does'nt the matron entertain him ,give him a toy, sing songs ...seriously he's only on the bus for 30 minutes ! I rode the school bus with him to school when he first started and he was very excited and stimming /making noise. I tried everything to get him to stop and he would'nt . He is just too young/does'nt understand. The first driver/matron is understanding. (The driver that picks him up is not the same as the driver that brings him back) They have never complained about ds and they usually have the radio on and are talking with the kids entertaining them. I rode the bus with my dd when she was in EI and they had loud kids on the bus who made noise/stimmed and the driver never complained . It's just something you deal with it when you are working with kids that have disabilities. Im pretty offended that she confronted me about this. OK you are telling me for what reason? I can't ride the bus back with him .
