Just wait to see what insanity this creates. We leave soon, so this Pre-trip report will be kinda of short, but I find it pretty amusing.
Part 1 - the history
So here's the quick background. Last year my friend (total chaos) and I (ultra organized) threw together a trip to WDW for ourselves and our hubbies. By the time we went there were eight people going
. Our first full day in the MK was an utter disaster because nobody wanted to do any of the same stuff or eat at the same places. It took 6 hours to do one small section of the park. After that we split up and met up at various times. That seemed to work out ok, except for the one friend who was even more organized than me and planned every detail, yes even potty breaks. He actually collected the wrist bands from EMH every day of the trip. I don't remember the planning being too bad, but then came this year...
Part 2 - When to go
This seems like an easy question. We went last September for free dining, lets see if they offer it again in 2008. OK they do, lets go then, just the four of us. Which week? Here is where it gets sticky. I need to have all vacation requests in by Jan 15th every year. We know we want to go in September, how hard can it be. I work in a department store, so I can not take the first week of Sept off because of the back to school rush. My friend's DH works at a grocery that is doing a remodel and he has black out dates too. Finally find a week that will work after 3 months of trying to decide. We are off to a rough start, but it going to be great once we get there.
Part 3 - Where to stay
Last year everyone pretty much stayed at different resorts, due to budget and some people reserving really late in the game. My friend said that was a pain, my DH said it was great to be able to have a little "alone " time. Well I finally convinced my friend that my allergies could not survive the AKL and thats the only place she likes. OK its the only place she's stayed. Problem solved - we opt for different resorts again.
Then I start reading up and find out CBR, where we stayed last year, is remodeling the main pool. DH doesn't like that idea because he loved how quiet the pool at Aruba was, now it would be busier. He doesn't like the look of any of the other moderates and starts thinking of joining our friends at AKL. Thats fine honey, but who's getting the second job? Well we eventually decide on POP since we have stayed there before. I call for the reservation, and find out that they only have preferred rooms. I ask what a preferred room is and I'm told its next to the main pool. Oh great! getting away from a loud busy pool was the reason we changed resorts in the first place. So I put in a request to be "less preferred" to which the woman laughed. Problem solved, for us.
My friends take a little longer to decide, yup the ones who know they want to stay at the AKL, can't make a decision.
They play around online and decide they want to try GF for part of their stay, but its a little pricey. So they get another friend to join them. So our plan of keeping this to just the four of us is out the window, and the body count ur I mean invited guests is up to five. The fifth person being the one who was so organized you couldn't get him to pee out of turn last year.
