First let me say thanks for all the answers to an earlier post. It was my first one and I got a lot of useful answers.

Another question though.
We are taking our nieces(7 and 13) to WDW this August. It will be their first time and I want it to be a great trip for them.

I would like your opinions on which resort will wow them the most. I imagine AKL will get a lot of votes but I was wondering what you guys thought of the other resorts.

Thanks again in advance.

Happy I found this site. Lots of useful info.:bounce:

How old are the kids??? My two kids, 3 & 8 have stayed at OKW, POR, YC and in two weeks we're staying at AKL. To tell you the truth, I've never had one complaint from either of them. They truly have liked all the different resorts for different reasons! I really believe, at least with my kids, that their favorite is the one they are staying in!! My oldest will have a preference before we go but once we get there he's just thrilled!

If you will be spending a lot of time at the pool of the resort you choose and your nieces are older, I would recommend CSR because it has one of the best pools and slides on property. Check out my site below. Good luck deciding!

Of course you're right. AKL is just wonderful, no matter what age you are. My question would be, what type of vacation is it going to be? Short with as much time at the parks as possible? Then AKL might not be the right choice. While the buses are plentiful and come often, it can be a long ride. I am sure in Aug you will want to take an afternoon break. Sometimes by the time we got back to AKL and relaxed, we just didn't feel like going for another long bus ride. YC/BC has an excellent location and the pool area is fabulous. Plus they also have some very good restaurants for the kids there. Additionally, it is just a pleasant stroll to the boardwalk area.

We are going for a week and I am concerned about the heat. We were considering POLY because its on the monorail for two parks and might easier to get around. Thanks for you answers.:Pinkbounc

You do thave a good point, the monorail is a great plus. We were at the GF last month for only 2 days. We split our stay between there and CBR. The kids(ages 10 and 9) just loved the new pool at the GF. My niece loved the food at 1900 Park Fare breakfast. It was really good. I have heard good things about the Poly also. But we liked the GF so much that we have decided to go again over Labor Day weekend.

The Poly would be my choice...it is fantastic. Large rooms, great pools, beach with a great view of the castle, Kona, monorails as well as boat transportation, friendly staff, 24 hour snack shop (I like my tea early in the am), gorgeous landscaping and a relaxed atmosphere that is a great antidote to the parks. You are also an air-conditioned ride away from the restaurants of the GF and CR.

What state are you from? There are some great August codes on mousesavers.com.

I would say the GF, Poly, or the BC. Actually I would split the stay. That's just me.

What are the codes you are referring to? We are from Virginia.

Thanks again.

The other thing to consider about the Magic Kingdom resorts is they have a lot more choices in terms of water sports, for off-park days.

I'd go with the Poly, I think.

Hi there -

Lucky you - Virginia residents are eligble to use the new code just out for dates 8/25-10/02. If this is the time frame you are looking for, you could stay at the Poly for 174/nt garden view, CR Std Wing room for 139/nt, CR tower for 199, or AKL Std - 119, Savannah - 159. I

Your nieces will love any of the above resorts I'm sure. Poly has a great Volcano pool, CR has the best arcade on site - my 13 yo DD loves it, AKL needs no description - the ANIMALS.

If you stay on the monorail, be sure to let the kids ride up front with the driver at least once - they will love it, and might even get their Jr Monorail Driver's License!

Happy room hunting!

Forgot to mention - The Code to use is CQL. Tell the CM at reservations you would like to use this code, and he/she will quote you the rate for the resort you would like.

The Poly is great for kids of all ages and adults too. There is a great pool, a beach, the Neverland Club, mouse boats, the Electric Water Pagaent every night and fireworks. The convenience of being so close to MK is wonderful. I would definitely recommend it.

Alot will depend on the personalities and likes of your nieces. If they like pools, then my suggestion would be the Yacht and Beach Club, if that is in your price range...otherwise, CSR has a great pool, with a great slide.

If they like animals, then, of course, AKL... we just don't like the inconvenience.

If their favorite park is MK, and they like arcade games, then the Contemporary would do nicely.

If they like spending the evenings shopping or want to spend time at Disney Quest, PO-R and PO-FQ are great, because the boat can take you all to Downtown Disney.

The most centrally located moderate is CBR, and the beaches are beautiful, but the pool isn't as good as some of the others.

If they are "girly-girls", then of course... Grand Floridian.

And if they are into the movie "Lilo and Stictch" which is coming out this month, then the Poly for the whole tropical atmosphere.

Those codes look AWESOME! Make sure to take advantage of them!

Good luck in your decision!

If you are on a budget, I'm a big fan of Port Orleans. The pool is great! It's small enough that you don't have to walk far to get to the food court, etc., unlike some of the other moderates. Great music piped in too.
