How many in your party...kids? Can you pack for seven days without doing laundry? Out of 8 cruises, we have only done laundry twice (B2B Med./WBTA) because the limited facilities are so busy day and night. If you use a camera that needs to be recharged (not with new batteries), then you need to take your recharge equipment. If you use a cell phone a lot (for pictures), then the same applies. There are plenty of outlets for this. There are two hair dryers in each room. If medications are a must, then you have to determine amount to bring. However, there is a small clinic aboard, if needed. We took two bottles of bubble-packed wine each with us for happy hour each afternoon. Your room steward can get you wine glasses, or use the non-fancy ones in your room. You can take a glass of wine to dinner, not the bottle. If you are doing door decorations or FE (Fish Extender), then you need to plan/prepare accordingly. There are rules and regs. for these found on other blogs and the DCL web site. If you want to dress up for Frozen day/night, do it...there are some materials that can help you in the gift shops. If you want to decorate your room, again, check out the DCL web site to preorder. Hope this helps.I guess I wasn't really thinking about clothes. I've got a good handle on what clothes we want to bring. I was more thinking about all the extras I inevitably forget to bring: detergent, usb outlets, etc.
Women do not need to have skirts for churches. They just need to have knees and shoulders covered like the men. This is also not true for all churches, but it's best to be on the safe side.If you are planning on going into any churches (there are some but not as many in the Mediterranean) make sure you have skirts for women and long shorts or pants for men. I don't know if your leaving from Dover or Copenhagen, but Dover is more south, and therefore a bit warmer. As PP said, a windbreaker is a must.
The weather can be warm, but have breezes. Nights are also on the chillier side. Depending on individual comfort level, some people think 50s, 60s, feel warm, and some thing anything under 65 feels cold. Finally, the earlier in the summer you travel the cooler it will be.
Some suggestions:
Windbreaker
Light Sweater or Sweatshirt
Capris
Lightweight long sleeve shirts
Jeans
Fleece jacket
Skirts
Long Shorts

- suction cup hooks to stick in the shower for drying swimsuits, etc.
- flashlight - because i’ve been on ships without power )
Thanks. Forgot to put those on the list but they will be needed for this trip. Are you staying in a land hotel anywhere? You might need plug adapters (or converters?) for your electronics. You shouldn't need them on the ship (if you're from North America), but you would in a hotel.
Here are some of my non-clothes / non-hygiene recommendations but definitely not an all-inclusive list:
- multi-port usb charger. This one works like a champ. Anker 40W 4-Port USB Wall Charger with Foldable Plug, PowerPort 4
- multiple power cords for charging devices
- suction cup hooks to stick in the shower for drying swimsuits, etc. More useful than the laundry line strung up across the shower.
- passports / cruise docs
- airline boarding passes / reservation info
- Bonine (sea sickness)/C-bands
- night light
- other meds (in original bottles) - some people say to bring a copy of the prescription but I think that is a bit much
- sunscreen
- cash (including small bills for room service tips)
- glow bracelets / necklaces - because they are fun and much less than the light-up toys for sale onboard (or bring old light up toys)
- lint roller or brush
- flip flops / pool shoes
- glasses / sunglasses
- flashlight - because i’ve been on ships without power and it gets real dark
- post it note pad / sharpie
- zip lock bags - because they are always useful for something
- binoculars
- phone app for currency conversion
- batteries (if bringing anything that uses them)
We use a couple of those dollar store electric tealights instead of a night light. They work great. By the end of 7 days, they are weak, but if you have extra, just replace them.Great list. I would add a corkscrew if you are bringing wine onboard. Also, for nightlight, it should be battery powered, especially if you want to use it in the bathroom, as there are no plugs there. I would also suggest a roll of paper towels (or even just a few dozen sheets) if you have room. Great for the inevitable spills so you don't have to wipe out a towel, and can also be used to cushion breakables if you don't need them for mop up duty. Also, double the sunscreen and bug spray and half the clothes, and triple the Ziplocs! We liked having water shoes, YMMV. Post-its are great for keeping in touch by leaving notes in the cabin. Depending on your kids ages, old phones or ipods with wifi can run the App and do messaging, even if they don't have a phone plan. This was great for our tweens. And no huge loss if they lose them since they were old anyway. (The phones/ipods, not the tweens.)
