UK passport turn around time

Does anyone know roughly how long you have to wait for a new passport these days?

My daughter's passport will need renewing next year. She is going on a school trip to Austria, plus we have a few short breaks booked to EU countries and I will have to apply for a new passport in the middle of all this. Last time I applied we got them back within a week, but I've heard that this is not always the case.

I don't know if it will make a difference to timings, but she will be 16, so will she be getting another child passport or an adult one.

My DD's boyfriend applied for his first adult passport this Summer and we used the Post Office check & send service, and the passport arrived a week later

You don't have to wait you can apply for a new passport up to 9 months in advance.

Thanks. I've applied 9 months in advance before, it's just that we have quite a few trips booked next year plus my daughter's school trip, so I don't want to wait a month or more for the passport to come back. Luckily it looks like I'll be ok.

We gadget new ones this year, it said that it depends eheb you order it, I think oct onwards was faster than say April to aug, we got ours oct and took about 10days.
