As we normally travel in off peak seasons I'm trying to ascertain whether flight prices in the summer hols really are always ridiculous prices, or if we get in early at the 11 month mark are prices the same as any other time of year?

My inlaws paid £720 return manchester to Vegas via Philly this January for flights the end of July.

I didn't think this was too bad given the time of year and how far it is

No, that doesn't seem too bad.
We were hoping to do MAN to LAS direct with Virgin, so that might be where it gets more expensive.
We changed in Chicago last year with United and the transfer took sooooo long, plus our connecting flight was delayed, so that's put us off non-direct flights...

The VA flights were £900 in comparison and the dates didn't work out as they only fly twice a week.

Thomas cook also fly direct to Vegas from manchester

I think I figured out it was Thurs and Sun Virgin fly, will have to take a look at Thomas Cook, hopefully they might be a little cheaper, but I suspect they only do certain days of the week too. I wonder if their flydrive prices might even be out already?

We flew from Manchester to las Vegas with VA non stop last August, it was just over £800pp. We booked early, the prices went up by at least £100pp by the time we went. Flying into Vegas on a Sunday worked well as the hotel prices are cheaper from sun-wed, we then drove on to LA for ten days returning to fly home.

Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if Virgin still tend to offer miles + money flights during July/August?
