UK Community Photo Competition for week ending 12 January - Magic Kingdom DISCUSSION

Joh how does almost breaking my neck whilst on my knees noise?????? ( looked like I was praying to the castle) :rotfl2:
Looks good mate, I've one very similar to it from a few years ago. What lens have you got on at the time? If you can get a wide angle on the camera, it will "bend" the towers in at the top - looks kind of strange.

Mine up now FWIW, kept going round in circles trying to decide (and may even change my mind yet!). Reckon this is going to be close, there are some really good ones there.

I'm having trouble in deciding on mine, don't know whether to go for a traditional one, or, something a little stranger!

I've just had my first look at the thread and had to chuckle at your IASW photo, Matt. Spooky! That'll scare the littlies away from MK ;)

Lots of great pics there :)

Just been trying to post a picture myselfon the test board, but can't get anything to show apart from the link. I've tried posting it twice (as deb suggested for marypops), but it still doesn't show the photo

Any ideas?

Great thread and some great pics too! The castle seems to be a big favourite! I am just looking my pics trying to choose! Will be posting over the weekend!

Aha! Thanks - will post on the entries thread now :)

Hi Matt
I've seen that second photo before and really liked it then:thumbsup2 but i was BLOWN away by the first one:rotfl2:
I used my 18-55mm for the shot, I only have the two kit lenses at the moment but I hope to get a wide angle and i'm not sure if a 2x converter or a 600mm would be the better option on the other end???

Debs you should enter I see no reason why you should not be allowed to play to.

Kev and Tam I think your shots are great!

Hilary nice shot what setting did you use???

This is shaping up to be a great competition, Thanks to you Deb.( Great idea)

Changed my mind on the second one. Too many pictures to choose from is the problem. The IASM one is one of a load I took on the ride, but just seems to work well.

Seem to remember it's a Nikon you've got. Think they must do a 10mm lens, which would give you around 16mm on your DSLR with the crop factor, which would be a nice wide lens. Had a 17mm on my old film SLR which was very useful in certain circumstances (indoor shots and arty stuff) - not a lens you would use a lot, but definitely worth getting. Fancy the 10-22mm for our Canon, but need some money first!!

As far as the other end, 600mm is a long lens, and with the digital crop factor, you are looking at nearly 1000mm which is a really long lens, and it would weigh a ton I would think. That having been said a 2x convertor would lose an f-stop (I think) and your lighting may suffer. What's the biggest one you've got at the moment?

Matt the biggest at the moment is the 70-300mm and you are right it's a Nikon D50

I'm flattered that you think I would know what setting I used - trust me, the shot was a pure fluke! I was using a simple point and shoot Olympus C220, and all I did was simply point and shoot with, presumably, the 'wrong' setting for the light conditions ;)

Thanks for the nice comments, though

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to enter too, Deb!

NT, love the duck photo. Clarity and focus is superb. What camera do you use? Does Mrs NT use the same one, as hers are also very clear and sharp?

Hi, just wanted to say that I think all the photos are great, I love the one of the duck, its so says MK to me. I have looked at our piccies and sadly I think none are worthy, I am very much a point, click and hope for the best sort of girl. I am really enjoying looking at everyone elses though, great competition Deb
