You had me scared, I had to rush in here -- I was afraid they were going to stop making the antennae balls!!!!! YIKES!!! That would be baaaadddddd!!!!!
shep gave my answer - TAKE THE CARE BACK AND GET A NEW ONE WITH AN ANTENNA!!!!!
The one with the dowels is a good idea and others have suggested that you can put like a fishing line through it and hang it on the rearview mirror or something. Someone else I know also uses them on the back of pencils as a pencil topper.
My original Mickey topper that I bought in '99 has its place of honor hanging from my rear view mirror. I drilled a hole in it with a hand drill and then strung the fishing line through the hole (just drilled up from the hole already started for the antenna) The ohter thing I did was use that sticky stuff for hanging posters on the wall and put that on the bottom of the topper and stuck it on my back shelf.
Fortunately I just got a car that has an antenna again so I can go back to using it
Ha! I had the same problem with my current car - a volvo wagon. I will be trading it in tomorrow for a mini van - complete with outside antenna for my antenna balls.
With the wagon I had to settle for the Mickey dice I had hanging from my rear view mirror.
I used a very long strong needle & black upholstery thread to make a loop to hang him from my rear view mirror like an air freshener.
First, I tied the thread into a loop with a BIG knot not too far down -- (WITHOUT the needle on it!!! Just make sure your loop is big enough to go over your rear view mirror STEM -- not mirror -- and big enough for Mickey's head to pass through the loop.
Then, I threaded the looped thread into the needle eye.
I put the needle up through the existing hole in Mickey's bottom, pulling needle out the top....and removing needle from thread....and allowing my knot to move up inside of Mickey until it stops. You now have a Mickey head with a loop coming out the top.
Place the loop over & around your mirror STEM....passing Mickey through the loop....pull & snug up.
You can go to Radio Shack and get a "fake" car antenna ......It suctions onto the car, but it looks like a real antenna. That is what I would do....(I have 5 antenna's depending on my mood so giving them up is NOT an option for me)
I haven't had a car that allowed me to use an antenna ball since 1993 I put them on the little antennae on my little radio thingie in my computer room, instead
Beanie just sent me a lime green one, it's so cute
