About a month ago I was diagnosed with melanoma. I had a lesion on the back of my leg and the melanoma was found in all layers of my skin. With this the doctor decided to remove the lymph nodes that the site drained to (2).

I had surgery two weeks ago yesterday and all went well. I had a wide excision around the original mole and a mole removed from my other leg that did have cancerous cells in it. The good news is that the lymph nodes are clear!! Yeah!! So at this point I just need to go for skin exams every 3 months!!

2 days ago I noticed a hard lump about the size of a marble under the incision up near my groin where the removed the lymph nodes. Now the lump is getting bigger and is the size of a hard boiled egg. My oncologist is not sure what is could be and I am seeing her today. She doesn't think that it is a fluid build up because the lump is quite firm.

Has anyone had something like this happen after a surgery?? I just want to get on with healing and move on.

Ugh...thanks for letting me vent.

Hoping things went well today, disneydreamer1970. No ideas from me, but you sure are in my prayer. My besy.

I don't know if you have been doing any research about melanoma, but I highly recommend www.mpip.org for both information and a support group. I am sure someone there will be able to give you information from their personal experiences.
I hope everything is OK with this new lump.

Maybe a lymph node?
Prayers and PD to you!

Cathy

I know when I'm sick, my lymph nodes sometimes get hard, and after antibiotics they're back to normal. Maybe that's all it is. Hoping for the best for you.
