I called just on a whim to see if there is availability at AKV for our September stay. I was booked for 2 studios at VWL, and was very excited about that stay. My dad (who would love VWL more than anyone I know) is no longer able to come with us, so I want to "save" that experience for a trip with him -- and why not see if the newest DVC resort has availability while I'm at it :confused3

So, to my surprise, there were 2 studios available for my stay (minus the first Saturday, which I wasn't sure I wanted to spend anyway)! I asked the CM to switch, and she was slower than anyone I've ever worked with. That wasn't really the big annoyance, but I had a larger problem with the fact that she wouldn't listen to me when I asked her to go ahead and book the Sunday-Saturday, instead of "waiting to see" if the first Saturday showed up. Instead of listening, she said "I'm just going to wait a minute to see". I practically had to beg her to listen to my date requests, and - in the meantime - ANOTHER day became unavailable! Ugh!

So now, I have a studio booked for my DH and I 6 of our 7 nights (and plan on staying at a hotel on the first night OOP), and only 5 nights for my mom and sister's room! I am of course wait-listing for the first night (and secretly hoping it becomes available immediately, when MS "releases" it after a caller changes their mind :rolleyes1 ), but I'm still a tad annoyed! I will be bummed if we end up having to give up both VWL AND AKV because of this! Or the other option, not "lose" the whole reservation but just cancel one night of DH and I and stay 2 nights OOP (x2 rooms), but that stinks too because (by then) we can't bank the points released from that night and we'll end up paying more out of pocket!

Keep your fingers crossed for my waitlist, please :wizard: :teeth:

Doesn't that get your shorts in a bunch! Good luck with the wait list. :wizard:

Well, I called back just because I'm so uncomfortable with the first call, and it turns out a) there IS a studio available that first night... it's a dedicated vs. lock-off (would have to change rooms), but still in the same resort, and still a reservation at all! and b) the first CM didn't put me on the wait-list at all! :rotfl:

I now have A room for all of us in the Animal Kingdom Lodge (in one capacity or another) and AM correctly wait-listed for the correct type of room to continue without requiring a room change. At least it's getting a bit better by the minute.....

Availability changes by the second. I called during our recent rip to extend our stay in a studio at OKW by one day. the CM wasn't chatty or a "time waster" and it still slipped through my fingers. We wound up at All Stars Sports for one night, POP Century was full. I thik the next time we need a night added on, if it isn't available on points, it will be POP or offsite, All Stars just wasn't the same quality as POP, even for a value. The CMs weren't quite with it and the food court wasn't as nice as it is at POP, plus the room wasn't in as good a condition.

Wow!

What a poor CM the OP got!

Not even placed on the waitlist, there is no excuse for that!

Good luck with the newest reservation changes.

I phoned to see if a 1 b sv was available at AKL and surprise it was, but the CM missed it. She tried to explain that they can't hold it and it takes time to cancel a reservation to release the points. If I had the points in my account then it would be done really quickly. She also said that if the CM isn't careful when there is only 1 left then you could lose your origenal booking as well. I think the system should allow the CM to grab it for a couple of mins to allow time to sort out the points. I have now gone on the waitlist, but will phone back from time to time.

I definitely agree with this, just like buying tickets for something (ANYTHING I've seen, regardless of what purchasing platform) -- hold the points for say, 2 minutes or something and then lose them. In my case today, I can certainly see where the original reservation would have been lost!

I am sorry this happened to you. I think that MS really needs to upgrade their computers to be able to hold your prospective room for a minute while it is booked.

I have a studio booked for October on one of my contracts, but I want to switch it to a different contract (different use years) and of course their are no studios available. I can't switch the reservation without first cancelling it and it would, I assume, go to the waitlist. So now I am on the waitlist for a room I already have booked. Go figure...

Good luck to you that your waitlist comes through!
